Fenomena Relasi Sosial di Era Digital Native (Studi Deskriptif tentang Alienasi pada Kalangan Mahasiswa di Universitas)

Abstract

This research raises the title of the Phenomenon of Social Relations in the Native Digital Era (Descriptive Study of Alienation among Students at the University of North Sumatra). In this study, the author wants to see how the phenomena of social relations in the digital digital era whose scope of life began to come into contact with the presence of technology. Social relations are part of human needs that originate from the interaction process carried out. Along with the development of technology created Digital native which is actually a student today starting to exclude themselves with artificial or virtual space. The virtual activity has an impact that students unconsciously experience alienation. Alienation is a symptomatic syndrome in modern society which is increasingly losing its sense of ownership in itself. The purpose of this research was to see and find out how far the mediation was done by the internet in student social relations in Medan and also to see what forms of alienation occurred with the internet in the community and students. In conducting this research, researchers used a qualitative approach with phenomenology methods. This method researchers will describe the alienation of a number of individuals to their various life experiences related to the phenomenon of social relations that occur from the existence of the internet. This description contains what they experience and how they experience it. The alienation that occurs from the existence of the internet has led to several forms of student internet life itself. Even though they have been alienated from the community by the presence of the internet, this has not been as severe as the hikikomori phenomenon in Japan which truly excludes itself from social life

Penelitian ini mengangkat judul Fenomena Relasi Sosial di Era Digital Native (Studi Deskriptif Alienasi pada Kalangan Mahasiswa di Universitas Sumatera Utara). Dalam penelitian ini, penulis ingin melihat bagaimana fenomena relasi sosial di era digital native yang lingkup kehidupannya mulai bersentuhan dengan hadirnya teknologi. Relasi sosial merupakan bagian dari kebutuhan manusia yang berasal dari proses interaksi yang dilakukan. Seiring berkembangnya teknologi menciptakan Digital native yang notabane merupakan mahasiswa dewasa ini mulai mengeksklusifkan diri mereka dengan ruang artifisial atau maya. Pada kegiatan maya tersebut memiliki dampak yang secara tidak sadar mahasiswa mengalami alienasi. Alienasi menjadi sindrom yang menggejala pada masyarakat modern yang semakin lama kehilangan rasa kepemilikan atas dirimya sendiri. Tujuan dari dilakukannya penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat dan mengetahui seberapa jauh mediasi yang di lakukan oleh internet di dalam relasi sosial mahasiswa di Medan dan juga melihat bentuk-bentuk alienasi apa saja yang terjadi dengan adanya internet di dalam masyarakat dan mahasiswa. Dalam melakukan penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode fenomenologi. Metode ini peneliti nantinya akan mendeskripsikan alienasi dari sejumlah individu terhadap berbagai pengalaman hidup mereka terkait dengan adanya fenomena relasi sosial yang terjadi dari keberadaan internet. Deskripsi ini berisi dari hal apa yang mereka alami dan bagaimana mereka mengalaminya. Alienasi yang terjadi dari keberadaan internet ini telah memunculkan beberapa bentuk dari kehidupan berinternet mahasiswa itu sendiri. Walaupun mereka sudah teralienasi dari masyarakat oleh hadirnya internet tersebut namun hal ini belum separah dengan fenomena hikikomori di Jepang yang benar-benar mengekslusif dirinya dari kehidupan bermasyarakat.
