Objective : To determine the differences of L-Selectin Expression in ectopic endometrium from endometriosis patients compared with normal peritoneum. Method : This analytical cross sectional study recruited 30 paraffins blocks of ectopic endometrium tissue obtained from patients who undergo laparotomy or laparoscopy while 30 control paraffins blocks recruited from patients undergo tubal sterilization. Paraffin tissue contained in the managed and performed immunohistochemical staining using the lymp node as a positive control. The result were interpreted based on the intensity of the color and then statistically analyzed. Results : 30 cases of endometriosis were observed and there were 12 (40%) ectopic endometrium of endometriosis patients stained with +3 and + 2 in intensity while in 30 cases of normal peritoneum stained with negatif intensity. L Selectin expression in ectopic endometrium is higher than normal peritoneum and this difference was statistically significant (p<0.05). In the relation to L-Selectin expression and the degree of endometriosis, 4 (80%) of stage I endometriosis stained with +1 in intensity, 7 (58%) of stage II endometriosis stained with + 2 in intensity and 9 (69.2%) of stage 3 endometriosis stained with + 3 in intensity. L Selectin expression due to the stage of the endometriosis was found to be higher for each stage and this difference was statistically significant (p<0.05). Conclusion : The L-Selectin expression significantly differed between ectopic endometrium of endometriosis patients compared with non endometriosis and the L-Selectin expression was found to be higher for each stage of endometriosi .en_US
