Pengaruh Pengerukan Pasir terhadap Kualitas Perairan di Sungai Tanjung Kabupaten Batubara

Abstract

THE INFLUENCE OF SAND DREDGING ON THE QUALITY OF WATER AT THE TANJUNG RIVER, BATUBARA DISTRICT ABSTRACT The study of the influence of sand dredging on the quality of water at the Tanjung River, Batu Bara District, was conducted from October, 2010, until August, 2011. The research was conducted at the bottom land of the Tanjung River, Air Putih Sub-district, Batu Bara District, while the physical and chemical parameter were Analysed the Microbiology Laboratory of the BTKL (Environmental Sanitary Engineering Center) and PPM (Contagious Disease Control) Level I, Medan. The aim of the research was to know the quality of water, both physically and chemically at the bottom land of the Tanjung River in the location where there was the activity of sand dredging and in the location where there was no activity of sand dredging. The results of the research showed that the average values of the temperature, the light intensity, TTS, BOD, COD, and phosphate were higher on the area where there was the activity of sand dredging, whereas the average values of TDS, Nitrate, and DO parameter were higher than the prior-activity of sand dredging area. PENGARUH PENGERUKAN PASIR TERHADAP KUALITAS PERAIRAN DI SUNGAI TANJUNG KABUPATEN BATUBARA ABSTRAK Studi tentang pengaruh pengerukan pasir terhadap kualitas perairan di Sungai Tanjung Kabupaten Batu Bara telah dilakukan sejak bulan Oktober 2010 sampai dengan bulan Agustus 2011. Penelitian dilakukan di Bantaran Sungai Tanjung Kecamatan Air Putih Kabupaten Batu Bara sedangkan analisis paramater fisik dan kimia dilakukan di Laboraturium Mikrobiologi Balai Teknik Kesehatan Lingkungan dan Pemberantasan Penyakit Menular (BTKL dan PPM Kelas I Medan). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kualitas air secara fisik dan kimia di Bantaran Sungai Tanjung yang terdapat aktifitas pengerukan pasir dengan yang tidak terdapat aktifitas pengerukan pasir. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata temperatur, intensitas cahaya, TSS, BOD, COD, dan Posphat lebih tinggi pada areal terdapat aktivitas pengerukan pasir sedangkan nilai rata-rata parameter TDS, Nitrat dan DO lebih tinggi pada areal sebelum terdapat aktivitas pengerukan pasir.
