Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors that influence the demand for corn in the Province of North Sumatra and analyze the factors that affect the supply of corn in North Sumatra Province. The analysis method used in this research is the method of multiple linear regression analysis using a model of OLS (Ordinary Least Square) by using software eviews 8.0. The data used are quarterly time series data from the years 1999-2013. The analysis showed the factors that influence the demand for corn in North Sumatra Province is the price of corn, population, and per capita income. Corn prices and a significant negative effect on the demand for corn. Population and per capita income and a significant positive effect on the demand for corn. Factors that affect the supply of corn in North Sumatra Province is the price of corn, corn prices the previous period, and the total area of corn harvested. Corn prices and not significant positive effect on supply for corn. Corn prices the previous period and the total area of corn harvested a significant positive effect on supply for corn.

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi permintaan jagung di Provinsi Sumatera Utara dan menganalisis faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi penawaran jagung di Provinsi Sumatera Utara. Metode analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode analisis regresi linier berganda menggunakan model OLS (Ordinary Least Squares) dengan menggunakan perangkat lunak eviews 8.0. Data yang digunakan yaitu data time series triwulan mulai dari tahun 1999-2013. Hasil analisis menunjukkan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi permintaan jagung Provinsi Sumatera Utara adalah harga jagung, jumlah penduduk, dan pendapatan per kapita. Harga jagung berpengaruh negatif terhadap permintaan jagung, sedangkan jumlah penduduk dan pendapatan per kapita berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap permintaan jagung. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi penawaran jagung Provinsi Sumatera Utara adalah harga jagung, harga jagung periode sebelumnya, dan luas areal panen jagung. Harga jagung berpengaruh positif dan tidak signifikan terhadap penawaran jagung, harga jagung pada periode sebelumnya dan luas areal panen jagung berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap penawaran jagung.
