The purpose of this experiment is to investigate the effect of oil palm
fronds fermented by local microbes on local male sheep. This research was carried
out at Agricultural Extension Society, Muara Batu, North Aceh, Aceh Province.
Feed composition and digestibility were analysed at the Nutrition and Feed
Technology Laboratory, Animal Husbandry Department, Agricultural Faculty,
Syiah Kuala University, Banda Aceh. This research was conducted from
December 2013 to February 2014. Total number of animals used in this
experiment were 20 local male sheep with the age of 1 year old and with the
animal weight of 12-14 kg. This experiment was designed using completely
randomized design consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications. The treatments
consisted of completed feed of oil palm fronds without fermented (R0), completed
feed of oil palm fronds fermented by Saus Burger Pakan (R1), completed feed of
oil palm fronds fermented by Probion (R2) and completed feed of oil palm fronds
fermented by Aspergillus niger (R3). All data were statistically analyzed using
analysis of variance (ANOVA). If there were differences between treatments, the
data were further analyzed by Tukey test. Parameters observed in this experiment
were feed consumption, body weight, feed conversion, dry matter digestibility,
organic digestibility and income over feed cost (IOFC). The results of this
experiment indicated that the highest feed consumption was at treatment
R1 (352, 50g/head/day) and it was significantly different (P<0, 05) from R0, R2
and R3 (320, 71 vs 315, 48 vs 317,19 g/head/day) respectively. The highest
average daily gain (ADG) was at the treatment R1 (78,07 g/head/day) and it was
significantly different (P<0,05) from R0, R2 and R3 (40,90 vs 57,50 vs
49,17 g/head/day) respectively. The lowest feed conversion was at treatment
R1 (4,56) and it was significantly different (P<0,05) from R0 and R3 (7,93 vs 6,57)
respectively. The highest dry matter digestibility was at treatment R1 (79,14%)
and it was significantly different (P<0,05) from R0, R2 and R3 (60,19% vs
68,67% vs 61,52%) respectively. The highest of organic digestibility was at
treatment R1 (81,04%) and it was significantly different (P<0,05) from R0, R2 and
R3 (63,61% Vs 71,15% Vs 65,17%) respectively. The highest IOFC was at the
treatment R1 (Rp 3.076,74) followed by R2, R3 and R2 with Rp. 2.1223, 62,
Rp 1,669,78 and Rp 1.284,05 respectively. In conclusion, the best treatment in
this experiment was oil palm fronds fermented by Saus Burger Pakan with the

Difermentasi dengan Mikroba Lokal Pada Domba Lokal Jantan” dibimbing

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan pelepah
kelapa sawit yang difermentasi dengan mikroba lokal pada domba lokal jantan.
Penelitian dilakukan di Balai Penyuluhan Pertanian Kecamatan Muara Batu
Kabupaten Aceh Utara Provinsi Aceh. Analisis pakan dan kecernaan dilakukan di
Laboratorium Makanan Ternak Jurusan Peternakan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas
Syiah Kuala Banda Aceh. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Desember 2013
sampai dengan bulan Februari 2014. Ternak yang digunakan adalah 20 ekor
domba lokal jantan berumur satu tahun dengan kisaran bobot badan antara
12-14 kg. Rancangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan
Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri atas 4 macam perlakuan dan 5 ulangan.
Perlakuan yang dicobakan adalah Pakan komplit pelepah sawit tanpa
fermentasi (R0), Pakan komplit pelepah sawit difermentasi dengan Saus Burger
Pakan (R1), Pakan komplit pelepah sawit difermentasi dengan Probion (R2)
dan Pakan komplit pelepah sawit difermentasi dengan Aspergillus niger (R3).
Pengaruh perlakuan dianalisis dengan sidik ragam (ANOVA), bila terdapat
pengaruh yang nyata antar perlakuan dilanjutkan dengan Uji Tukey. Peubah yang
diamati adalah Konsumsi Pakan, Pertambahan Berat Badan, Konversi Pakan,
Kecernaan Bahan Kering, Kecernaan Bahan Organik dan Income Over Feed Cost
(IOFC). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rataan konsumsi pakan tertinggi terdapat
pada R1 (352,50 g/ekor/hari) dan berbeda nyata (P<0,05) dengan R0, R2
dan R3 (320,71 Vs 315,48 Vs 317,19 g/ekor/hari). Pertambahan berat badan
tertinggi terdapat pada R1 (78,07 g/ekor/hari) dan berbeda nyata (P<0,05) dengan
R0, R2 dan R3 (40,90 Vs 57,50 Vs 49,17 g/ekor/hari). Konversi pakan terendah
pada R1 (4,56) dan berbeda nyata (P<0,05) R0 dan R3 (7,93 Vs 6,57). Kecernaan
bahan kering tertinggi pada R1 (79,14%) dan berbeda nyata (P<0,05) dengan R0,
R2 dan R3 (60,19% Vs 68,67% Vs 61,52%). Kecernaan bahan organik yang
tertinggi pada R1 (81,04%) dan berbeda nyata (P<0,05) dengan R0, R2
dan R3 (63,61% Vs 71,15% Vs 65,17%). IOFC tertinggi pada R1 (Rp 3.076,74)
disusul R2 yaitu Rp 2.123,62 kemudian disusul lagi oleh R3 yaitu
Rp 1.669,78 sedangkan yang terendah ada pada perlakuan R0 sebesar
(Rp 1.284,05). Disimpulkan bahwa perlakuan terbaik pada penelitian ini adalah
pemberian pakan komplit pelepah sawit yang difermentasi dengan Saus Burger
Pakan dengan taraf penggunaan sebanyak 25 % dalam ransum. | en_US |
