    Karakteristik Komposit Teroplastik Polipropilena dengan Serat Sabut Kelapa sebagai Pengganti Bahan Palet kayu

    Abstract
    It has been made coir as a subtance to strengthen composite polypropylene (PP).The composite polypropylene (PP) with the coir as combination is made by making sandwich PP-layer to the coir with ratio 10%,20%,30%,40%.The layer of PP that has been formed than filled with SSK and be pressed in a hot press machine with a constant press will become a specimen and each composition has variation time, they are 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 minutes.As comparation, the composite PP – SSK produced are the original PP and wooden Industrial pallet. The specimen is characterized by making elasticity test with pressing force as much as 200 kgf of Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) test. Exactly that the result of elasticity test show that the addition of coir as a substance to fill up PP decreases materials pressing force.The result SEM test shows that there is an interaction occurs. That the result of DTA test shows that the addition of SSK can decrease the glass Temperatur of PP . According to the characteristic test the substance of composite PP – SSK and the wooden Industrial pallet and the pure PP as the comparison, it is then concluded that composite PP – SSK can be used as a substance to replace wooden pallet in the future.
     
    Telah di buat Serat Sabut Kelapa (SSK) sebagai penguat bahan komposit Polipropilena (PP). Pembuatan komposit polipropilena dengan pengisi Serat Sabut Kelapa (SSK) dilakukan dengan cara membuat lapisan sanwich PP dengan komposisi Serat Sabut Kelapa dengan rasio 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%. Lapisan PP yang sudah terbentuk kemudian diisi SSK kemudian dipress dalam mesin Hot Press dengan tekanan konstan menjadi specimen dengan variasi waktu untuk masing-masing komposisi selama 5 menit, 10 menit, 15 menit, 20 menit, 25 menit dan 30 menit. Sebagai pembanding komposit PP-SSK yang dihasilkan adalah Polipropilena (PP) murni dan Kayu Palet Industri Industri .Karakterisasi terhadap Spesimen meliputi Uji Tekan/Uji Elastis, Uji Defferential Thermal Analysis (DTA) dan Uji Scanning Electrone Microscope (SEM). Ternyata hasil Uji Tekan/Uji Elastis menunjukkan penambahan serat sabut kelapa sebagai bahan pengisi PP menurunkan kekuatan tekan bahan. Hasil Uji SEM menunjukkan bahwa PP dan SSK terjadi interaksi. Hasil uji DTA menunjukkan penambahan SSK menurunkan temperature glass PP . Berdasarkan data hasil uji karaktristik terhadap bahan komposit PP-SSK serta Kayu palet Industri serta PP murni sebagai pembanding maka disimpulkan bahwa komposit PP-SSK dapat dijadikan sebagai
