    Hubungan Simtom Refluks Gastroesofageal dengan Derajat Beratnya Asma di Rsup H Adam Malik Medan

    Abstract
    Background : Gastroesophageal reflux (GER) is a potential trigger of asthma . A high prevalence and association GER symptoms in asthma patients has been shown in several reports from many countries. However, nο data from Medan are available. Objective: To determine the prevalence symptoms in asthma patients at Adam Malik Hospital and compare them with a non-asthmatic control group and to asses it”s association between asthma severity. Material and Method: A cross sectional study consisted of 47 asthma patients at the outpatient Adam Malik Hospital and 55 non-asthmatic patients as the control group. The study group and the control group were interviewed with questionnaire. Results: Among the asthmatics,31.9%,51.1% & 21.3% experienced heartburn, regurgitation & both symptoms, respectively. While in the control group, 20%, 36.6% & 16.4% Conclusion: The present study showed the prevalence of GER symptoms in asthmatic patients in Pirngadi Hospital and the control group to be 61.7% and 40%. Asthmatic patients had a greater significance prevalence than the control group and there was significant association between asthma severity and GER symptoms .     Latar Belakang: Refluks Gastroesofageal (RGE) merupakan pencetus potensial terhadap serangan asma . Prevalensi yang tinggi dan adanya hubungan simtom RGE pada penderita asma telah ditunjukkan pada banyak laporan diberbagai negara sementara data di Medan belum ada . Tujuan Studi : Untuk mencari prevalensi simtom RGE pada Penderita Asma di RSUP H Adam Malik Medan dengan membandingkannya dengan kelompok non-asma serta hubungan antara beratnya asma dan simtom RGE. Bahan dan Metode: Studi potong lintang yang melibatkan 47 penderita asma di Poliklinik Pulmonologi dan Allrgi Immunologi RSUP H Adam Malik dan 55 non-asma sebagai kontrol yang diwawancarai dengan mempergunakan kwesioner. Hasil : Pada penderita asma didapati, 31.9%, 51.1% & 21.3% mengalami heartburn, regurgitasi dan kedua simtom, sementara pada kontrol, 20%, 36.6% dan 16.4% Kesimpulan: Hasil studi ini menunjukkan prevalensi simtom RGE pada penderita asma dan kontrol sebesar 61.7% dan 40%. Penderita asma memiliki prevalensi Simtom RGE lebih besar bermakna dari pada kelompok kontrol serta ada hubungan yang bermakna antara beratnya asma dan simtom RGE .
