dc.description.abstract | Background: Psoriasis is a common chronic skin disease mediated by cellular immune mechanisms and characterized by an intense neutrophile cell infiltrate and proliferative activation of epidermal keratinocytes. It is generally assumed that unbalanced immune responses contribute to the pathogenesis. One of the mediators responsible for the pathogenesis of psoriasis is Nitric oxide (NO). NO levels from psoriasis skin lesion had been known increased but only few studies that examined NO blood serum levels from psoriasis patient. The most often used psoriasis vulgaris severity score is the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI).
Objective: To determine the association of serum level of Nitric oxide in psoriasis vulgaris with PASI score
Method: This is a cross sectional analytic design. Eighteen psoriasis vulgaris patients who came to the Dermatovenereology clinics Haji Adam Malik Hospital Medan enrolled to this study. History taking and clinical examination was performed. Psoriasis vulgaris severity was measured using PASI score. Serum level of nitric oxide were measured with nitrate / nitrite colorimetric assay.
Result: There was a strong positive correlation between nitric oxide serum levels and PASI score in psoriasis vulgaris patients (r = 0,834, p = 0,001).
Conclusion: Our result indicated that nitric oxide serum has a significant correlation with PASI score in psoriasis vulgaris patients. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Latar belakang: Psoriasis merupakan suatu penyakit kulit kronis yang sering yang diperantarai oleh mekanisme imun seluler dan ditandai oleh infiltrat sel neutrofil dan aktivasi proliferasi dari keratinosit epidermal. Umumnya dianggap bahwa ketidakseimbangan respon imun berperan terhadap patogenesis psoriasis. Salah satu mediator yang bertanggung jawab terhadap patogenesis psoriasis adalah nitric oxide (NO). Kadar NO dari lesi psoriasis diketahui meningkat, sedangkan masih sedikit penelitian yang meneliti kadar NO dari serum darah penderita psoriasis. Skor keparahan psoriasis vulgaris yang paling sering dipakai saat ini adalah Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI).
Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui hubungan kadar nitric oxide serum dengan skor Psoriasis Area and Severity Index
Metode: Penelitian bersifat analitik dengan rancangan potong lintang. Delapan belas orang pasien psoriasis vulgaris yang datang ke SMF Ilmu Kesehatan Kulit dan Kelamin RSUP H. Adam Malik diikutsertakan dalam penelitian ini. Terhadap subyek penelitian dilakukan anamnesis dan pemeriksaan klinis. Derajat keparahan psoriasis vulgaris dinilai dengan skor PASI. Kadar nitric oxide serum diukur dengan menggunakan nitrate / nitrite colorimetric assay.
Hasil: Terdapat korelasi positif yang sangat kuat antara kadar NO serum dengan skor PASI pasien psoriasis vulgaris (r = 0,834, p = 0,001).
Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kadar NO serum pasien psoriasis vulgaris dengan skor PASI. | en_US |
