dc.description.abstractLead exposure is an important public health problem in the world. The primary route of lead absorption is via respiration and ingestion. Absorbed lead is carried throughout the body by the blood, enters tissues, in a similar way to calcium with accumulation causing many adverse effects. Nutritional intervention addressing lead exposure, includes calcium which has been shown to play a critical role in reducing lead. Blood lead level (BLL) testing is a critical strategy in identifying lead poisoning. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of calcium consumption in reducing lead levels in blood. This study was designed as an experimental study using thirty female mice, 20-40g, maintained in a healthy state for the 2 weeks of the study. They were divided into 6 groups, 5 mice in each. Groups P2-P5 were given a daily dose of lead at 40 mg/kg body weight and either a daily dose of 25 mg calcium (P2 and P4) or 50 mg calcium (P3 and P5). In groups P2 and P3, calcium and lead were given at the same time, whereas in groups P4 and P5, the calcium and lead were given 1 hour apart. Group K (control) was just given aquadest, daily. Group P1 was only given lead at 40mg/kg body weight,daily. Concentrations of lead in the blood were determined with ICP (Inductively Couple Plasma). The data was analyzed with the Kruskall Wallis test. The results showed that blood lead levels was lower in groups given calcium and lead at the same time, with a greater reduction in the group given 50 mg calcium. This result suggests that increasing the dose of calcium can increase the effectiveness of calcium in reducing the effects of lead especially if they are taken together.en_US
dc.description.abstractPemaparan plumbum merupakan masalah kesehatan yang penting di seluruh dunia. Jalur utama untuk absorpsi plumbum adalah melalui saluran pernafasan dan saluran pencernaan. Plumbum yang diabsorpsi diangkut ke seluruh tubuh oleh darah. Pumbum memasuki seluruh jaringan tubuh, mengikuti distribusi kalsium dan mengalami akumulasi di jaringan tubuh sehingga menimbulkan banyak penyakit pada tubuh. Nutrisi, termasuk kalsium, berperan penting dalam menurunkan kadar plumbum dalam tubuh. Kadar plumbum darah merupakan strategi utama untuk mengidentifikasi keracunan plumbum. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat efektifitas pemberian kalsium terhadap penurunan kadar plumbum dalam darah. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen pada 30 ekor hewan percobaan mencit betina, sehat, berat badan 20-40gr, dilakukan selama 2 minggu. Hewan percobaan dibagi 6 kelompok, tiap kelompok terdiri dari 5 ekor, diberi kalsium 25mg/hari/oral (P2 dan P4) dan 50mg/hari/oral (P3 dan P5) diikuti pemberian plumbum 40mg/kgBB/hari/oral. Pada P2 dan P3, kalsium dan plumbum diberi pada waktu yang bersamaan, sementara pada P4 dan P5, kalsium dan plumbum diberi jarak 1 jam. Kelompok K hanya diberi aquadest. Kelompok P1 hanya diberi plumbum 40mg/kgBB/hari. Kemudian kadar Pb dalam darah diperiksa menggunakan alat ICP (Inductively Couple Plasma). Data yang diperoleh dianalisa dengan uji Kruskall Wallis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadi penurunan kadar Pb dalam darah mencit pada kelompok yang diberikan kalsium bersamaan dengan plumbum. Derajat penurunan ini paling jelas terlihat pada kelompok yang diberi kalsium 50 mg/hari dibandingkan dengan yang menerima kalsium dengan 25mg/hari. Hal ini memberi kesan bahwa penambahan dosis kalsium akan meningkatkan efektifitas kalsium dalam menurunkan efek plumbum terutama bila diberikan dalam waktu yang bersamaan..en_US
