    Evaluasi in Vitro Efektifitas Antimikroba Gel Povidon Iodin Berbasis Alginat terhadap Beberapa Bakteri Patogen Periodontal

    Abstract
    Background:A actinomycetemcomitans, P gingivalis and F nucleatum bacteria are pathogenic bacteria that are frequently found in periodontal disease. Antiseptic is a material that inhibits microorganism growth and activity. Povidone iodine is one of the effective antiseptic material that is used for periodontal supporting treatment. Objective:To identify the antibacteriaeffect of 5% and 10% alginat based povidone iodine gel on A actinomycetemcomitans, Pgingivalis dan F nucleatum bacteria. Methode:This is a laboratorium experimental research. The preparation of 5% and 10% alginate based povidone iodine gel was conducted aseptically. Effectivity evaluation of alginate based povidone iodine toA actinomycetemcomitans, P gingivalis andF nucleatum was tested with disc diffusion method. Pure culture of A actinomycetemcomitans (ATCC33384), Pgingivalis (33277) and F nucleatum (ATCC25586) werecultured in Tryptic(Trypticase) Soy Agar media,incubated for 24 hours in an incubator at a temperatur of 370 C.Alginat gel without povidone iodine is used as a control and povidone iodine solution 10% as a comparism. Result:The average diameter of inhibition zone of 5% povidone iodine gel on A actinomycetemcomitans, F nucleatum and P gingivalisbacteria are 1.12 cm, 1.80 cm, and 2.10 cm respectively. While the average diameter of 10% povidone iodine gel on A actinomycetemcomitans, P gingivalisand F nucleatum bacteria are 1.59 cm, 2.17 cm, 2.37 cm respectively.The average diameter of 10% povidone iodine solution on A actinomycetemcomitans, P gingivalisand Fnucleatum bacteria are 1.43cm, 1.88cm, 2.03 cm respectively. On the other hand, alginate gel without povidone iodine showed no inhibition zone. Conclusion:This result suggest that 5% and10% povidone iodine gel has a strong antibakterial effect
     
    Latarbelakang:Bakteri A actinomycetemcomitans, Pgingivalis dan F nucleatum merupakan bakteri patogen yang sering dijumpai pada penyakit periodontal. Antiseptik merupakan bahan yang dapat mencegah pertumbuhan dan aktivitas mikroorganisme.Salah satu bahan antiseptik yang efektif sebagai penunjang perawatan penyakit periodontal adalah povidon iodin. Tujuan penelitian:Untuk mengetahui efektifitas dari gel povidon iodin 5% dan 10% berbasis alginat terhadap bakteriP. gingivalis, A. actinomycetemcomitans, F. nucleatum. Metode Penelitian:Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian ekperimental laboratorium. Pembuatan gel povidon iodin 5% dan 10% berbasis alginat ini dilakukan secara aseptik. Evaluasi efektifitas gel povidon iodin berbasis alginat terhadap bakteri P. gingivalis, A. actinomycetemcomitans dan F. nucleatumdilakukan dengan metode difusi cakram. Sebagai bakteri digunakan biakan murni A.actinomycetemcomitans (ATCC33384), P. gingivalis (33277) dan F. nucleatum (ATCC25586) yang dibiakan pada media Tryptic(Trypticase) Soy Agardilakukan inkubasi selama 24 jam didalam inkubator dengan temperatur 370 C.Sebagaikontrol digunakan gel alginat tanpa povidon iodin dan sebagai pembanding digunakan larutan povidon iodin 10%. Hasil:Rata-rata diameter zona hambat gel povidon iodin 5% terhadap bakteri A.actinomycetemcomitans, F.nucleatum dan P.gingivalis masing – masing 1,12 cm, 1,80 cm dan 2,10 cm. Diameter zona hambat gel povidon iodin 10% terhadap bakteri A.actinomycetemcomitans, P.gingivalis dan F.nucleatum yaitu masing - masing1,59 cm, 2,17 cm dan2,37 cm. Diameter zona hambat larutan povidon iodin 10% terhadap bakteri A.actinomycetemcomitans, P.gingivalis dan F.nucleatum yaitu masing - masing 1,43 cm, 1,88 cm dan 2,03cm.Sedangkan, gel alginat tanpa povidon iodin tidak mempunyai zona hambat. Kesimpulan:Gel povidon iodin 5%, 10% mempunyai daya hambat yang kuat terhadap bakteri.
