| dc.description.abstract | In Diabetes Mellitus (DM), persistent hyperglycemia causes increasing production
of free radicals especially reactive oxygen species (ROS). Superoxide Dismutase
(SOD) is an enzyme that act as antioxidant by capturing one of the ROS, called
superoxide anion. Puguntano (Curanga fel-terrae (Lour.) Merr.) is a plant which
known have many health benefits, including for treatment of DM.
Objective
To determine the effect of extract Puguntano leaves towards SOD levels in T2DM
patients.
Methods
This study was a clinical trial over 12 weeks in outpatient clinic in Adam Malik
Hospital Medan, where 23 patients T2DM were divided into 2 groups: Puguntano
(12) and Metformin (11). Anthropometric, fasting blood glucose, 2-hour postprandial
blood glucose and SOD level were measured before and after the study
conducted. The changes assessed by a statistical test where p value of <0.05 was
considered significant statistically.
Results
An increasing levels of SOD in Puguntano group from 2034.36 to 2255.73, but it
was not significant statistically. The comparison of changes in SOD levels
between Puguntano and Metformin groups have not significant difference too.
Conclusion
It was not found significant effect of extract Puguntano leaves for 12 weeks
towards SOD levels in T2DM patients. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Pada Diabetes Mellitus (DM), hiperglikemia persisten akan menyebabkan
peningkatan produksi radikal bebas terutama reactive oxygen species (ROS).
Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) merupakan enzim yang berperan sebagai
antioksidan dengan menangkap salah satu ROS yaitu anion superoksida.
Puguntano (Curanga fel-terrae (Lour.) Merr.) merupakan tumbuhan yang
diketahui memiliki banyak khasiat untuk kesehatan termasuk dalam pengobatan
DM.
Tujuan
Untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak daun Puguntano terhadap kadar
SOD pada penderita DM tipe 2.
Metode
Penelitian ini bersifat uji klinis selama 12 minggu di poliklinik RSUP Adam
Malik Medan, dimana 23 penderita DM tipe 2 dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok yaitu
Puguntano (12) dan Metformin (11). Sebelum dan sesudah penelitian dilakukan
pengukuran antropometri, kadar gula darah puasa dan 2 jam post prandial dan
SOD. Perubahan yang terjadi dinilai dengan uji statistik dimana p value <0.05
dianggap bermakna secara statistik.
Hasil
Peningkatan kadar SOD pada kelompok Puguntano dari 2034,36 menjadi 2255,73
namun tidak signifikan secara statistik. Perbandingan perubahan kadar SOD
antara kelompok Puguntano dan Metformin juga tidak terdapat perbedaan
signifikan.
Kesimpulan
Tidak didapatkan pengaruh yang signifikan dari pemberian ekstrak daun
Puguntano selama 12 minggu terhadap kadar SOD pada pasien DM tipe 2. | en_US |
