Analisis Ekspor Kopi di Provinsi Sumatera Utara

Abstract

North Sumatera Province as one of the provinces in Indonesia which has superior plantation commodity, coffee (coffea) plays its role in the international trade by exporting it to several countries throughout the world. The objective of the research was to analyze the influence of the price of international coffee, the price of international tea, the amount of coffee production, the population in the countries of destination, and the rate of exchange in the countries of destination to US dollar on coffee export in North Sumatera with three countries of destination: Singapore, England, and Italy. The research was quantitative analysis, using secondary data from 2000 to 2012 (time series) and cross section design of three countries of destination (Singapore, England, and Italy), obtained from BPS (Central Bureau of Statistics) of North Sumatera and from the World Bank. The data were analyzed by using panel data regression analysis with Fixed Effect Model (FEM) of cross section weights. The result of the research showed that the price of international coffee had positive and significant influence on the change of coffee export in north Sumatera, but the population and the rate of exchange in the three countries of destination to US dollar had negative and significant influence on the change of coffee export in north Sumatera at the reliability level of 5 percent.

Provinsi Sumatera Utara sebagai salah satu provinsi di Indonesia yang memiliki komoditi perkebunan unggulan kopi (coffea) menunjukkan peran dalam kegiatan perdagangan internasional melalui ekspor ke beberapa negara di dunia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana harga kopi internasional, harga teh internasional, jumlah produksi kopi, jumlah penduduk negara tujuan ekspor dan kurs mata uang negara tujuan ekspor terhadap US dollar berpengaruh terhadap ekspor kopi di provinsi Sumatera Utara dengan tiga negara tujuan ekspor yakni Singapura, Inggris dan Italia. Jenis penelitian ini adalah analisis kuantitatif dengan menggunakan data sekunder runtut waktu dari tahun 2000 sampai dengan tahun 2012 (time series) dan cross-section 3 negara tujuan ekspor yaitu Singapura, Inggris dan Italia yang diperoleh dari Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) provinsi Sumatera Utara dan World Bank. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi data panel dengan Fixed Effect Model (FEM) pembobotan cross section weights. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa harga kopi internasional secara positif dan signifikan mempengaruhi perubahan ekspor kopi di provinsi Sumatera Utara, harga teh internasional dan jumlah produksi kopi secara positif dan tidak signifikan mempengaruhi perubahan ekspor kopi di provinsi Sumatera Utara, namun jumlah penduduk dan kurs mata uang negara tujuan ekspor terhadap US dollar masing-masing secara negatif dan signifikan mempengaruhi perubahan ekspor kopi di provinsi Sumatera Utara dengan tingkat kepercayaan sebesar 5 persen.
