dc.description.abstractThis study aimed to test the effectiveness of behavior modification treatment in the form of self-control strategies in order to reduce the level of addiction to online role playing game in adolescents. The subjects were 10 male junior high school students who play games about 4 to 8 hours per day for 6 months. Treatment given for 7 meetings with the material that is psychoeducation about gaming addiction and tasks application exercises self-control in order to prevent play. Data were collected using self-control scale and scale addicted to gaming, which is then analyzed by non-parametric statistical Mann-Whitney. The results showed that: (1) Provision of behavior modification with an effective selfcontrol strategy to reduce the level of addiction to online games; (2) There was a reduction in the length of the game play 4-8 hours per day (before treatment) to 2 hours per day (after treatment); (3) The five subjects in the experimental group who received treatment, all showed a decrease in the score of game addiction. However, only three subjects who experienced a change in the level of addiction to gaming from moderate to low.en_US
dc.description.abstractPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji efektivitas pemberian tritmen modifikasi perilaku dalam bentuk strategi kontrol diri guna mengurangi tingkat kecanduan online role playing game pada remaja. Subjek penelitian adalah 10 orang laki-laki siswa SMP yang bermain game sekitar 4 sampai 8 jam per hari selama 6 bulan terakhir. Tritmen diberikan selama 7 kali pertemuan dengan materi yakni psikoedukasi tentang kecanduan bermain game dan tugas-tugas latihan penerapan kontrol diri untuk mencegah bermain game. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan skala kontrol diri dan skala kecanduan bermain game, yang selanjutnya dianalisis dengan statistik non parametrik Mann-Whitney. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Pemberian modifikasi perilaku dengan strategi kontrol diri efektif untuk mengurangi tingkat kecanduan online game; (2) Terjadi pengurangan lamanya bermain game yakni 4-8 jam per hari (sebelum tritmen) menjadi 2 jam per hari (setelah tritmen); (3) Kelima orang subjek di kelompok eksperimen yang mendapatkan tritmen, semuanya menunjukkan penurunan skor kecanduan game. Namun demikian hanya tiga orang subjek yang mengalami perubahan tingkat kecanduan bermain game dari tingkat sedang menjadi rendah.en_US
