dc.description.abstract | Matrix Metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) is a proteolytic enzyme assumed to have an important role in cervical carcinogenesis. Higher MMP-9 level will make cervical tissue degradation faster and cancer cells invasion easier. This study was done to evaluate the immune expression level of MMP-9 by immunohistochemistry on different precancerous lesions and invading cervical carcinoma. Material and Method : MMP-9 immune expression of 50 cervical tissues was evaluated in three different groups which are Low grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion (LGSIL), High Grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion (HGSIL), and invasive cervical carcinoma. This is an observational, cross-sectional study and statistically analyzed with Spearmen correlation. Results : Diffusely and intensely stained stromal cells can be found in 23 cases (46%) that included 12 cases in invasive carcinoma and 9 cases (18%) in HGSIL. Stromal cells in LGSIL mostly showed negative immune expression of MMP-9. There is statistically significant correlation between histopathologically diagnosed lesions with MMP-9 immune expression in stromal cells of precancerous lesions and invasive carcinoma. Conclusion : MMP-9 expression in immunohistochemistry is involved in the cervical tumors carcinogenesis. The higher MMP-9 immune reactive expression intensity and quantity, the more severe the neoplastic cervical lesions. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Matrix Metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) merupakan enzim proteolitik yang diduga berperan penting dalam proses progresifitas lesi prakanker menjadi kanker serviks. Kadar MMP-9 yang tinggi akan menyebabkan proses degradasi jaringan serviks menjadi lebih cepat dan mempermudah proses invasi sel kanker. Penelitian ini mengevaluasi level immunoekspresi dari MMP-9 secara immunohistokimia pada berbagai spektrum lesi prakanker dan lesi karsinoma serviks invasif. Bahan dan Cara : Evaluasi dilakukan terhadap intensitas dan kuantitas ekspresi immunohistokimia MMP-9 dari 50 jaringan serviks yang terbagi dalam tiga kelas yaitu lesi prakanker Low grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion (LGSIL), High Grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion (HGSIL), dan lesi karsinoma invasif. Desain penelitian ini akan menggunakan studi potong lintang secara observasional dan diuji statistik dengan korelasi Spearmen. Hasil : Jumlah sel yang terwarnai diffuse pada stroma serviks dapat ditemukan pada 23 kasus (46%), di antaranya 12 kasus pada karsinoma invasif dan 9 kasus (18%) HGSIL. Stroma pada lesi LGSIL lebih banyak yang tidak menampilkan IHK MMP-9. Pada stroma neoplasia intraepitel dan karsinoma invasif serviks, terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan dengan ekspresi imunohistokimia MMP-9 baik dari segi intensitas pewarnaannya maupun dengan jumlah sel yang positif terwarnai. Kesimpulan : Semakin tinggi positivitas imunohistokimia MMP-9 yang dinilai berdasarkan intensitas dan kuantitasnya, semakin tinggi derajat keparahan lesi neoplasia serviks. Peningkatan ekspresi imunohistokimia MMP-9 berperan penting dalam proses karsinogenesis tumor serviks. | en_US |
