D: Ulcerative colitis is an autoimmune and non specific inflamatory desease that has potencial to be malignancy. The incidence of ulceratve colitis increases in the last two decades. Twentyfive percent of ulcerative colitis cases can undergo dysplasia process after 20 years, and up to 43% become colorectal carcinoma after more than 25 years. Elevated CEA in ulcerative collitis as a preoperative marker implied bad prognosis in colorectal carcinoma. Immunoexpression of CEA was studied in tissue that diagnosed as colorectal carcinoma and shows strongly positive. The diagnosis of ulcerative colitis could be confirmed with CEA expression. MATERIAL AND METHODS : Fourtysix specimens from colon tissue diagnosed previously as ulcerative colitis, dysplasia and adenocacinoma colorectal by qualitative analyzing, were evaluated against CEA by immunohistochemistry and be classified in mild and strong intensity. RESULT: Positvely stained of cell membran and cytoplasm can be found in 40 of 46 cases (87%).This includes 20 cases of (+1), 5 cases (+2) and 15 cases (+3) stained.12 cases of all diffusely (+3) stained are adenocarcinoma and 3 were dysplasia. Of all ulcerative colitis cases examined here, 20 cases are stained +1,but 6 of them are absently stained. From the statistical data, we found that lessions which were diagnosed earlier from histopathology related significantly with CEA immunoexpression. CONCLUSIONS: Adenocarcinoma and dysplasia were strong intensity shown poor prognose. Ulcerative colitis were moderate and low intensity shown better prognose.en_US
