dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study is to describe of the perception of nurse career development at the 'X' Hospital Medan. The data was collected using scale of perception of career development which consisted of three aspects such as individual roles, supervisor roles, and organizational roles. This study used a descriptive quantitative approach and number of sample were 86 practitioners nurse at the 'X' Hospital Medan. In this study, the perception of nurse career development classified into three categories: positive, unclassified, and negative. The results showed that the average of practitioners nurse perception of career development nurse was negative compared than general population. The majority perception of career development was positive based on individual roles, meanwhile the perception of career development based on supervisor roles and organizational roles were classified as negative. These results described that supervisor roles and organizational roles classified as negative, hence the management need do some effort to create a positive perception of career development at „X‟ Hospital Medan be positive. One of effort it can be done by the management was performance appraisal. In performance appraisal, it could be evaluated the performance and behavior of nurse in providing professional nursing care to clients. Each stage in the implementation of nursing care requires specific competencies that should be possessed by nurses. Competencies required to assist supervisors and management in identifying and designing of training that was useful to improving the competence of nurses as well as inputs in making promotion decisions in order to develop nurse‟s career. Therefore, performance appraisal based competence is recommended to be used as an intervention. Keyword: nurses career development, performance appraisal based competence.en_US
dc.description.abstractTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat gambaran persepsi pengembangan karir perawat di RSU „X‟ Medan. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan skala persepsi pengembangan karir yanag terdiri dari tiga aspek yaitu peran individu, peran supervisor, dan peran organisasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif deskriptif dengan sampel berjumlah 86 perawat pelaksana di RSU „X‟ Medan. Dalam penelitian ini, persepsi pengembangan karir perawat digolongkan ke dalam tiga kategori, yaitu positif, tidak terklasifikasi, dan negatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata persepsi pengembangan karir perawat pelaksana di RSU „X‟ Medan tergolong negatif dibandingkan populasi secara umum. Jika ditinjau lebih jauh, mayoritas perawat memiliki persepsi perkembangan karir yang positif berdasarkan peran individu, sedangkan persepsi pengembangan karir berdasarkan peran supervisor dan peran organisasi tergolong negatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peran supervisor dan peran organisasi dalam pengembangan karir perawat RSU „X‟ Medan tergolong negatif sehingga perlu adanya upaya dari pihak manajemen agar persepsi pengembangan karir perawat menjadi positif. Salah satu bentuk usaha yang dapat dilakukan oleh pihak manajemen RSU „X‟ Medan adalah melakukan penilaian kinerja. Dengan dilakukan penilaian kinerja dapat dievaluasi perilaku dan hasil kerja yang ditunjukkan seorang perawat dalam memberikan asuhan keperawatan profesional kepada kliennya. Setiap tahapan dalam pelaksanaan asuhan keperawatan membutuhkan kompetensi tertentu yang harus dimiliki perawat. Kompetensi yang dibutuhkan dapat membantu supervisor dan pihak manajemen Rumah Sakit dalam mengenali dan merancang jenis pelatihan yang berguna untuk meningkatkan kompetensi perawat serta sebagai bahan masukan dalam membuat keputusan promosi untuk mengembangkan karir perawat. Oleh karena itu, penilaian kinerja berbasis kompetensi disarankan untuk digunakan sebagai intervensi. Kata kunci: pengembangan karir perawat, penilaian kinerja berbasis kompetensien_US
