dc.description.abstractNowadays there are so many types of orthodontic brackets that are available in the market. The adhesion of metal brackets is obtained with mechanic interlock between bracket base-adhesive resin-enamel. Orthodontic manufacturers are constantly introducing various styles of metal attachment bases designed to improve the mechanical retention of the attachment to the resin system. Metal bracket bases can be classified into two principal groups : brackets with soldered base and brackets with integral base. Integral base bracket can be divided into mesh base bracket and retention groove base bracket. The aim of this in vitro study was to compare the shear bond strength of brackets with mesh base and brackets with retention groove base. Thirty extracted human premolars were randomly divided into two groups of 15 samples and Advantage No-Mix Direct Bond Adhesive was used to bond the metal brackets on the enamel surface according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Group I was premolar bracket with mesh base (Mini Edgewise Nickel-Lite Opti-MIM). Group II was premolar bracket with retention groove base (Mini Dyna-Lock). Shear bond strength testing was performed with a Torsee Electronic System Universal Testing Machine. T-test showed a statistically significant (P<0,01) difference between two groups. Group I had the higher mean shear bond strength (7,77 ± 2,64 MPa) than group II (4,23 ± 1,44 MPa). Brackets with mesh base showed better adhesion results than brackets with retention groove base with Advantage No-Mix Direct Bond Adhesive bonding material. Universitasen_US
dc.description.abstractBerbagai macam tipe basis breket tersedia di pasaran untuk perawatan ortodonti. Perlekatan breket didapat dari penguncian mekanikal antara basis breket-bahan adhesif-permukaan enamel. Berbagai desain basis breket dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan retensi mekanikal perlekatan dengan bahan adhesif. Secara umum basis breket metal dibagi menjadi dua golongan yaitu breket dengan soldered base dan breket dengan integral base Breket integral base terdiri dari mesh base dan retention groove base. Tujuan penelitian in vitro ini untuk membandingkan shear bond strength antara breket dengan mesh base dan retention groove base. Gigi premolar manusia yang telah diekstraksi sebanyak 30 dibagi secara random menjadi dua kelompok dengan masing-masing kelompok 15 gigi, dan bahan adhesif Advantage No-Mix Direct Bond Adhesive digunakan untuk melekatkan breket metal ke permukaan enamel gigi sesuai instruksi pabrik. Kelompok I menggunakan breket premolar dengan mesh base (Mini Edgewise Nickel-Lite Opti-MIM). Kelompok II menggunakan breket premolar dengan retention groove base (Mini Dyna-Lock). Uji shear bond strength dilakukan dengan alat Torsee Electronic System Universal Testing Machine. Uji-t menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang sangat signifikan di antara kedua kelompok (P<0,01). Kelompok I memiliki nilai rerata shear bond strength yang lebih tinggi (7,77 ± 2,64 MPa) dari pada kelompok II (4,23 ± 1,44 MPa). Breket dengan mesh base menghasilkan kekuatan perlekatan yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan breket retention groove base dengan memakai bahan adhesif Advantage No-Mix Direct Bond Adhesive.en_US
