    Abstract
    Carbon monoxide (CO) is a gas that is colorless, odorless, and tasteless. Compounds of carbon monoxide (CO) is a toxic potentially dangerous because it can form a strong bond with the blood pigment hemoglobin. Carbon monoxide (CO) is known to affect the work of the heart (cardiovascular system), central nervous system, fetal, and all organs of the body that are sensitive to oxygen deprivation. Symptoms of mild poisoning include headache and nausea at concentrations less than 100 ppm. The carbon monoxide concentration of 667 ppm can cause 50% of the body's hemoglobin transformed into carboxy hemoglobin (COHb). UNIVERSITAS SUMATERA UTARA So in this thesis the author made a CO gas detector applications using MQ-7 sensor-controlled arduino. Experiments done by assigning the input circuit on the sensor MQ-7 in the form of a gas vehicle. Afterwards arduino process the data, and then displays it on the LCD and outputs it via the buzzer. The buzzer will sound when it detects CO gas levels exceed 400 ppm. Keywords: MQ-7 smoke detector, Arduino, buzzer, LED.
     
    Karbon monoksida (CO) adalah gas yang tidak berwarna, tidak berbau, dan tidak berasa. Senyawa karbon monoksida (CO) mempunyai potensi bersifat racun yang berbahaya karena mampu membentuk ikatan yang kuat dengan pigmen darah yaitu hemoglobin. Karbon monoksida (CO) diketahui dapat mempengaruhi kerja jantung (sistem kardiovaskuler), sistem syaraf pusat, janin, dan semua organ tubuh yang peka terhadap kekurangan oksigen. Gejala dari keracunan ringan meliputi sakit kepala dan mual-mual pada konsentrasi kurang dari 100 ppm. Konsentrasi karbon monoksida sebesar 667 ppm dapat menyebabkan 50% hemoglobin tubuh berubah menjadi karboksi hemoglobin (COHb). Maka pada tugas akhir ini penulis membuat aplikasi detektor gas CO dengan menggunakan sensor MQ-7 yang dikendalikan arduino. Percobaan rangkaian dilakukan dengan pemberian input pada sensor MQ-7 yaitu berupa gas kendaraan. Setelah itu barulah arduino mengolah data, lalu menampilkannya pada LCD dan mengeluarkannya lewat buzzer. Buzzer akan berbunyi bila mendeteksi kadar gas CO melebihi 400 ppm.
