    Abstract
    This study is about the kinds of translation techniques, shifts and readability in translating bilingual children’s story book. The purposes of this study is,1) to identify the kinds of translation techniques used by translators ,2) to identify of shifts that occur in children's literature,3)to measure the readability level of translation, which aims to prove that the role of children's literature text translation of foreign language learning can be seen from the success of the translation process is based on a translation purposes so that the results reflect needs of people who need it. The research method employed in this study as descriptive qualitative method referring to the theory of data analysis developed by Miles and Huberman through the stages of data collection, data presentation, reduction, and verification or conclusion.The data resource of this study is a bilingual children’s story book entitled I Love You Mom containing a collection of the stories about mother’s love. The writer of this thesis asked 21 students of the grade VIII of junior high school to evaluate the level of readability in translation of this bilingual children’s story book.The results of this study showed that there were 8 (eight) translation techniques used by theory of Molina and Albir, such as the techniques 1)transposition (102 data or 26,4%), 2)Modulation (94 data or 24,4%), 3) Compensation (68 data or 17,6%),4) Literal (54 data or 14%), 5)Deleting/Omission (29 data or 7,25%),6) Adding (28 data or 7,25%), 7)Borrowing (10 data or 2,6 %) in classified in pure 3 data (0,77%) natural borrowing as much as 7 data (0,81), 8) Established Equivalence (1 data or 0,25%). In terms of shifts occured in translating this bilingual children’s story book, we found structure shifts (88 data or 86,3%), unit shifts (11 data or 10,2%), and class shifts (3 data or 2,9%). In the process of technique analysis and shifts in this study, it was found out the rates in high level of readability there are (369 data or 95,5% and lowest level of readabilty (17 data or 4,4%) .
