| dc.description.abstract | Darwin Harahap. 067002001. The Aerobic Decomposition Rate and the Quality of Crop
Residues Compost by Adding of Some Decomposers. The purpose of this research is to
examine the effect of some decomposers to increase the rate of the aerobic decomposition
and to enhance the quality of compost from some crop residues. This research was done at
North Sumatera Assessment Institute of Agricultural Technology Laboratory Medan from
April till June 2009. The research used of a complete block design factorial with 2 factors
and 3 replications. The first factor was the type of crop residues as compost material,
consists of 4 type of residues; those were rice straw, the water hyacinth, the coffee skin and
the cacao skin. The second factor was kinds the type of the decomposer; those were
without decomposer, EM-4, Trichoderma sp, the sheep urine and the animal blood from
abattoir, then the amount of experimental unit were 60 units. The observed parameters
were compost compressibility, index of germination, C/N ratio, C-organic, N-total content,
P and K content. Observation data was analyzed using Duncan’s Multiple Range Test
(DMRT). The result of this research showed that the highest decomposition rate was found
in the combination of cacao skin and animal blood from abattoir treatment, while the
lowest decomposition rate was found in the coffee skin compost and in the compost
processed without decomposer treatment. The lowest C/N ratio was found in the
combination of cacao skin and decomposer of Trichoderma sp treatment, while the highest
of C/N ratio was in the compost from coffee skin and in the compost processed without
decomposer. The decreasing of C/N ratio was followed by the increasing of compressibility
and the index of germination. The C/N ratio, compressibility and the index of germination
can be used as indicator for compost maturity. The animal blood from abattoir
decomposer can increased compost quality by seeing the increasing of its P and K

Berbagai Residu Tanaman dengan Penambahan Berbagai Dekomposer.Tujuan Penelitian
untuk mengetahui pengaruh beberapa Dekomposer terhadap laju dekomposisi secara
aerobik dan kualitas kompos yang dihasilkan dari berbagai residu tanaman. Penelitian
dilaksanakan di laboratorium Balai Pengkajian Teknologi Pertanian Sumatera Utara
Medan.Penelitian berlangsung dari bulan April sampai dengan Juni 2009 .Penelitian
menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) faktorial dengan menggunakan 2 faktor
dan 3 ulangan, faktor pertama adalah jenis residu tanaman sebagai bahan kompos, terdiri
dari 4 jenis yaitu jerami padi, eceng gondok, kulit kopi dan kulit kakao, faktor kedua adalah
jenis dekomposer terdiri dari 5 jenis yaitu tanpa dekomposer, EM-4, Trichoderma sp, urine
domba dan darah rumah potong hewan, sehingga jumlah satuan percobaan menjadi 60
satuan. Peubah yang diamati: kompresibilitas kompos, indeks perkecambahan, rasio C/N,
C-organik, kandungan N-total, kadar P dan kadar K. Data pengamatan dianalisis secara
statistik dengan menggunakan uji Duncan’s multiple range test (DMRT). Hasil penelitian
menunjukkan laju dekomposisi yang paling tinggi terjadi pada perlakuan kombinasi kulit
kakao dengan dekomposer darah rumah potong hewan sedangkan laju dekomposisi yang
terendah pada perlakuan kulit kopi tanpa dekomposer. Rasio C/N yang paling rendah
adalah perlakuan kombinasi kulit kakao dengan dekomposer Trichoderma sp ,sedangkan
rasio C/N yang tertinggi pada kulit kopi tanpa dekomposer. Penurunan rasio C/N diikuti
dengan peningkatan nilai kompresibilitas serta peningkatan nilai indeks pertambahan.
Rasio C/N, nilai kompresibilitas dan indeks pertambahan dapat digunakan sebagai indikator
kematangan kompos. Penggunaan dekomposer darah rumah potong hewan dapat
meningkatkan kualitas kompos berupa peningkatan kandungan fosfor dan kalium | en_US |
