    Penggunaan Kitosan dan Polyaluminium Chlorida ( PAC) Untuk Menurunkan Kadar Logam Besi (Fe) dan Seng (Zn) dalam Air Gambut

    Abstract
    Telah dilakukan penelitian penggunaan kitosan dan polyaluminium chlorida untuk menurunkan kadar logam besi dan logam seng dalam air gambut. Dengan variasi jumlah kepekatan kitosan dan polyaluminium chlorida serta waktu kontak. Kitosan cukup baik mengadsorpsi logam besi dan logam seng dibandingkan dengan polyaluminium chlorida. Hasil penyerapan kitosan dan koagulasi polyaluminium chlorida dianalisis menggunakan spektrofotometer serapan atom . Dari hasil penelitian diperoleh penyerapan kitosan terhadap logam besi sebesar 93,27% dan logam seng sebesar 88,88% dengan waktu kontak 30 menit. Dengan menaikkan waktu kontak 60 menit penyerapan logam besi sebesar 95,49% dan logam seng sebesar 94,20% . Sedangkan polyaluminium chlorida mengkoagulasi logam besi sebesar 48,27 % dan logam seng sebesar 39.86 %. Dalam penelitian ini kitosan menyerap logam besi dan seng lebih baik dari pada polyaluminium chlorida.
     
    The application of chitosan and polyaluminium chloride has been studied for decreasing the concentration of iron and zinc metals in peat water. By variation of the concentration of metals and contacted time. It was found by using atomic absorption spectroscopy method. The chitosan absorbed the metals better than polyaluminium chloride. The iron was absorbed of 93,37% and zinc was 88,88% with 30 minutes contacted time. Increasing contacted time by 60 minutes the iron was absorbed 95,49 % and zinc was 94,20 %. Where as the polyaluminium chloride coagulated iron was 48,27% and zinc was 39,86 % . Chitosan absorbed iron and zinc metals better than polyaluminium chloride.
