    Peranan Karet Alam Sir 20 dan Asam Akrilat Terhadap Kompatibilitas Polipropilena dengan Bahan Pengisi Pulp Tandan Kosong Sawit

    Abstract
    Pencampuran antara polipropilena dengan karet alam SIR 20 dan bahan pengisi pulp tandan kosong sawit memiliki kompatibilitas yang lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan adanya jembatan penghubung asam akrilat, karena polipropilena dan karet alam SIR 20 yang bersifat non poliar dengan pulp tandan kosong sawit yang bersifat polar. Dalam penelitian ini telah dilakukan pencampuran antara polipropilena, karet alam SIR 20, Pulp tandan kosong sawit, Benzoil peroksida dan Asam akrilat dengan menggunakan alat Labu Plastomil. Hasil uji sifat mekanik yang paling optimal terlihat dengan adanya penambahan asam akrilat, DTA menunjukkan satu puncak endotermis untuk masing-masing pencampuran poliblen artinya poliblen sudah kompatibel dan hasil foto mikroskopis optik untuk campuran pada penambahan asam akrilat sangat berperan karena interaksi motekul-molekul lebih merata sehingga dapat menaikkan kompatibilitas poliblen.
     
    Polypropylene and natural rubber SIR 20 blends with selluse filler has lower compatibility than that containing acrylic acid as coupling agent. This is because of polypropylene and natural rubber SIR 20 none polar polymer where as is characterized as filler. The acrylic acid may function as linkages between the non polar polymers and the polar filler. In this research, the blending process of various combinations of polypropylene, natural rubber SIR 20, and sellulose, is the presence of benzoyl peroxcyde and acrylic acid were carried ont using laboo plastomil, at optimised conditions. The results showed that mechanical characteristic of the blends were higher when the acrylic acid was added. DTA result showed single endothermic peak as melting point of the blend, which indicated that the blend between polypropylene and natural rubber is compatible. Result of optical microscopy also showed that the presence of acrylic acid result is better surface property of the blend.
