    Impregnasi Kayu Kelapa Sawit dengan Campuran Polipropilena dan Polietilena

    Abstract
    Telah dipelajari impregnasi Kayu Kelapa Sawit (KKS) dengan campuran Polietilena (PE) dan Polipropilena (PP) yang dimodifikasi dengan anhidrida maleat serta benzoil peroksida sebagai inisiator. Proses impregnasi dilakukan pada fase leleh campuran dan pada kondisi tekanan 0,1 dan 2 kg/cm2 dengan waktu 30, 35 dan 60 menit, KKS hasil impregnasi di analisa dengan Uji Mekanik, Miksoskopi Elektron Payaran (SEM), Analisis Thermal Diferensial (DTA) dan Spektroskopi Infra Merah Fourier Transform (FT-IR). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi optimum impregnasi adalah pada tekanan 1 kg/cm2 dan waktu 45 menit. Harga Modulus Patah (MoR) dan Modulus Elastisitas (MoE) KKS impregnasi menggunakan campuran PE dan PP termodifikasi anhidrida maleat meningkat dari (145,88 dan 13062,8) kg/cm2 untuk KKS kering menjadi (400,14 dan 39039) kg/cm2. Rapat massa meningkat dari 0,38 g/cm3 menjadi ,64 g/cm3. Dari hasil analisa SEM dan FT-IR terlihat bahwa campuran dapat memasuki bagian dalam KKS dan terjadi interaksi fisik antara campuran polietilena dan polipropilena termodifikasi dengan KKS.
     
    The impregnation of oil palm wood (OPW) with Polypropylene-Polyethylene blend which has been modification maleic anhydride and benzoil peroxide was used as initiator had been carried out. The impregnation was processed on melting phase ofblend at the condition of pressure 0, 1 and 2 kg/cm2 with the duration time of 30, 45 and 60 minutes, respectively. The result of OPW impregnation was carried out using Mechanical Test, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) and Fourier Transform Infra Red Spectroscopy (FT-IR). The result showed optimum condition was pressure I kg/em' and 45 minutes duration time. The value of Modulus of Rupture (MoR) and Modulus of Elasticity(MoE) of OPW specimens after impregnation using modification PP-PE blend with maleic anhydride increased from (145,88 and 13062,8) kg/em' for dry OPW to (400,14 and 39039) kg/cm2. Density increased from 0,38 g/cnr' to 0,64 g/cm2, The analysis result of SEM and FT-IR methods showed that blend can entered to inner the OPW and physical interaction between blend PE & PP with OPW.
