    Abstract

Polyglycerol acetate (PGA) which is product of esterification from glycerol residue of biodiesel plant can act at plasticizer for polivinyl chloride (PVC) to substitute commercial plasticizer, such as dioctylpthalate (DOP). Biodegradation of the plastic mixtures with the plasticizer was done by soil burial test for 15, 30, 45, and 60 days. Meanwhile biodegradation in Aspergillus niger media was done for 10 and 20 days. The results of weight loss percentage showed that all PVC polymers can be biodegraded, although with different biodegradation rate. The biodegradability by Aspergillus niger fungi was more faster than by soil burial test. Characterization of functional groups were done by FT-IR and the morphology was tested by SEM. Toxicity test using E.Coli in NA media at temperature 37 0C and incubation 48 hours showed that PGA exhibited indication of anticeptic properties.
