dc.description.abstract | Orthodontic treatment with first premolar extraction was performed to provide enough space for teeth in dental arch so that the teeth can be arrange tidily in good order. Space resulted from premolar extraction will be closed soon after anterior teeth retraction. Anterior teeth retraction can be gradually or enmasse. Gradual retraction is done first by retracting canines and then incisors. Canine retraction may give effect on angulation change, canine rotation and loss of anchorage.
The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of maxillary canine retraction which are change of angulation, canine rotation as well as first molar anchorage loss after two month of canine retraction between elastomeric chain using continuous round compare with closed-helical sectional rectangular wire.
Panoramic radiography, study models and copy of study models were made from samples consisting of 16 persons comprising 15 female and 1 male between the ages of 18-36. Samples were randomly devided in two groups. Angulation measurement of maxillary canines was performed on panoramic radiography while canine rotation measurement was done on copied study models and measurement of anchorage loss was done on study models before and after two months of maxillary canine retraction. First group was retracted by elastomeric chain using continuous round wire, whereas second group was retracted by closed-helical sectional rectangular wire.
T-test showed there is no significance difference canine retraction between elastomeric chain using continuous round compared with closed-helical sectional rectangular wire, two month after retraction to canine angulation sig = 0,0832 on right side and sig = 0,0724 on the left side with α = 0,05. To the canine rotation, there is a significance difference sig = 0,003 on the right side and sig = 0,001 on the left side with α = 0,05. To anchorage loss, there is no significance difference sig = 0,299 on the right side and sig = 0,127 with α = 0,05 | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Perawatan ortodonti dengan pencabutan gigi premolar pertama dilakukan untuk memberi tempat yang cukup bagi gigi-geligi pada lengkung rahang sehingga gigi-geligi dapat disusun rapi. Ruang bekas pencabutan gigi premolar akan ditutup dengan melakukan retraksi gigi anterior. Retraksi gigi anterior dapat dilakukan secara bertahap maupun sekaligus. Retraksi secara bertahap yaitu retraksi kaninus terlebih dahulu, kemudian retraksi gigi insisivus. Retraksi kaninus dapat menimbulkan efek terhadap angulasi dan rotasi gigi kaninus serta anchorage loss.
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membandingkan efek retraksi kaninus
maksila berupa perubahan angulasi dan rotasi kaninus serta anchorage loss gigi molar pertama setelah dua bulan retraksi kaninus antara elastomeric chain memakai continuous round dengan closed-helical sectional rectangular wire.
Foto panoramik, model studi dan fotocopi model studi dibuat dari sampel sebanyak 16 orang terdiri dari 15 orang perempuan dan 1 orang laki-laki berumur antara 18 – 36 tahun. Sampel dibagi dua kelompok secara acak, masing masing kelompok sebanyak 8 sampel dilakukan pengukuran angulasi kaninus maksila pada foto panoramik, pengukuran rotasi kaninus pada fotocopi model studi dan pengukuran anchorage loss pada model studi sebelum dan dua bulan setelah retraksi kaninus maksila. Kelompok pertama diretraksi dengan elastomeric chain memakai continuous round sedangkan kelompok kedua diretraksi dengan closed-helical sectional rectangular wire.
Uji-t menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan signifikan retraksi kaninus antara elastomeric chain memakai continuous round dengan closed-helical sectional rectangular wire setelah dua bulan retraksi terhadap angulasi kaninus sig = 0,0832 pada sisi kanan dan sig = 0,0724 pada sisi kiri dengan α = 0,05. Terhadap rotasi kaninus terjadi perbedaan secara signifikan sig = 0,003 pada sisi kanan dan sig = 0,001 pada sisi kiri dengan α = 0,05. Terhadap anchorage loss tidak terjadi perbedaan signifikan sig = 0,299 pada sisi kanan dan sig = 0,127 dengan α = 0,05. | en_US |
