dc.description.abstract | Background. Thyroid lesions are all of the abnormality of the thyroid gland. Thyroid
lesions that usually cause symptoms are the thyroid nodules. Thyroid nodule can be
benign or malignant. Fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) have limitations in
determining the diagnosis. Intra-operative examination consisting of imprint cytology
(IC) and frozen section used (FS) due to its sensitivity and specificity better than FNAB
in determining the diagnosis.
Aim. Knowing comparison diagnosis IC and FS as intra-operative diagnostic
procedures for the examination of thyroid lesions in the laboratory of Anatomic
Pathology Haji Adam Malik Hospital.
Material and Method. This study is a diagnostic test with a cross-sectional design and
sampling by consecutive sampling method. The entire study sample were 29 cases (with
inclusion criteria) during 2011-2012 in the laboratory of Anatomic Pathology Haji
Adam Malik Hospital in Medan. Slides os IC, FS and histopathology from thyroid
lesions were reviewed and compared by using a 2x2 table and analyzed with 2-way
Contingency Table Analysis (JavaStat Analysis) to obtain the sensitivity, specificity,
and accuracy of IC, FS and a combination of imprint cytology and frozen section
(IC+FS).
Result. Sensitivity of IC was 72.7%, while FS and IC+FS showed the same sensitivity
(81.8%). Specificity of IC was 94.4%, while FS and IC+FS were 100%. Accuracy of IC
was 86.2% in this study, while IC and IC+FS were 93.1%.
Conclusion : Imprint cytology and frozen section can be used as an intra-operative
diagnosis in Haji Adam Malik Hospital with high sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Latar belakang : Lesi tiroid adalah semua kelainan yang terdapat pada kelenjar tiroid.
Lesi tiroid yang biasanya menyebabkan keluhan adalah nodul tiroid. Nodul tiroid dapat
merupakan nodul jinak atau ganas. Sitologi biopsi aspirasi jarum halus (Sibajah)
memiliki keterbatasan dalam menentukan diagnosis. Pemeriksaan intra-operatif yang
terdiri dari sitologi imprint (SI) dan potong beku (PB) dipergunakan karena mempunyai
sensitivitas dan spesifisitas yang lebih baik dibanding Sibajah dalam menentukan
diagnosis.
Tujuan : Mengetahui perbandingan diagnosis SI dan PB sebagai prosedur diagnostik
intra-operatif terhadap pemeriksaan pada lesi-lesi tiroid di Instalasi Patologi Anatomi
RSUP. Haji Adam Malik Medan.
Bahan dan Metode : Penelitian ini merupakan uji diagnostik dengan desain crosssectional
dan pengambilan sampel dengan metode consecutive sampling. Seluruh
sampel penelitian sebanyak 29 kasus (yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi) periode 2011-
2012 di Instalasi Patologi Anatomi Rumah Sakit Haji Adam Malik Medan. Slaid
pemeriksaan SI, PB dan histopatologik, diperiksa kembali kemudian dibandingkan
dengan menggunakan tabel 2x2 dan dianalisa dengan 2-way Contingency Table
Analysis (JavaStat Analyse) untuk memperoleh sensitivitas, spesifisitas, dan akurasi dari
SI, PB dan kombinasi sitologi imprint dan potong beku (SI+PB).
Hasil : Sensitivitas SI 72,7%, sedangkan sensitivitas PB dan SI+PB menunjukkan
sensitivitas yang sama (81,8%). Spesifisitas SI 94,4%; sedangkan PB dan SI+PB 100%.
Akurasi SI pada penelitian ini 86,2% sedangkan pada PB dan SI+PB 93,1%.
Kesimpulan : Sitologi imprint dan potong beku dapat digunakan sebagai diagnosis
intra-operatif di RSUP Haji Adam Malik dengan nilai sensitivitas, spesifisitas, dan
