| dc.description.abstract | Background : The resistance case is a problem for TB prevention and eradication program of the world. Over the years, more cases of multidrug resistance TB had arose and becoming a new threat to eradicate TB. Therefore, the needs to investigate characteristics of patients with MDR TB became important.
Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of patients with MDR TB.
Method : This research is a cross report descriptive study. Data were collected in a time span of September 2013 until December 2013. Data retrieved directly from subject’s medical records of whom coming to the pulmonology clinic or staying at the Haji Adam Malik General Hospital. A total of forty subject had undergone the experiment. Subject were patient diagnosed with MDR TB, who have undergone a sputum direct smear examination, acid fast culture, and sensitivity test for anti-tuberculosis drugs using GeneXpert test.
Result : From 40 subject that had participated in this research, we found that most of the subject were male (72,5%). Most of the subject had graduated from the senior high school (65,0%), and most of them were married (90,0%). All of the subjects chief complaint were cough (100%) and their radiologic chest X-ray data showed some cloudy appearance (100%). Most of the subject had history of first line anti-tuberculosis drug once (57,5%), and second line anti-tuberculosis once (57,5%). Levofloxacin (39/97,5%), sikloserin (39/97,5%), pirazinamid (38/95%), and kanamisin (38/95%) are drug that most used for the patient with MDR TB.
Conclusions : MDR TB subjects show some characteristic, and further researches are needed to identificate character that are the risk factor of MDR TB. | en_US |
