Didong Gayo Lues :Satu Analisis Pemikiran Masyarakat Gayo

Abstract

Didong Jalu is an oral tradition that has become a part of the life of Gayo Lues community. Didong is used as a medium to teach and propagate the Islamic religion and culture to the Gayo Lues community. The objective of this study is to determine and analyze the thinking of Gayo Lues community on Islamic religion, the cosmos, man and society in the Didong Jalu. The findings of this research could enlighten the community on Didong Jalu, to use it as a reference for further research on oral tradition besides serving as a guide in developing local school c u r r i c u l u m . T h i s s t u d y u t i l i z e s t h e s o c i o l o g y o f l i t e r a t u r e t h e o r y a n d t h e methodology involve observation, interview and documentation. The result of this study shows that Didong Jalu contains the thought of the Gayo Lues community regarding Allah, the messenger, angels, spirits, Islamic tenets, Islamic practices, sins, repentance and life-after death. This study also fond that the thinking of the Gayo Lues community also encompasses matters such as the universe, flora, fauna and tools used by the community. Furthermore, the Gayo Lues community believes that the first human being created by Allah s.w.t. was Adam and that Hawa (Eve) was the second. Adam and Hawa were ancestors of all man kind. In addition, the thinking of the Gayo Lues community also encompasses social life, family relationship and stratification in their community.

Didong Jalu adalah tradisi lisan yang sudah berakar umbi di dalam kehidupan masyarakat Gayo Lues. Didong digunakan sebagai alat untuk mengajarkan dan menyebarkan agama Islam dan budaya kepada masyarakat Gayo Lues. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti dan menganalisis pemikiran masyarakat Gayo Lues tentang agama Islam, kosmos, manusia dan masyarakat di dalam Didong Jalu. Manafaat hasil kajian ini dapat membantu masyarakat untuk memahami Didong Jalu, menjadi rujukan bagi pengkaji tradisi lisan dan dapat menjadi anduan untuk membuat kurikulum sekolah tempatan. Kajian ini menggunakan teori sosiologi sastera dan metodologi kajian ialah pemerhatian, temu bual dan dokumentasi. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa Didong Jalu mengandungi pemikiran masyarakat Gayo Lues tentang Allah, rasul, malaikat, roh, hukum dalam Islam, amalan dalam Islam, dosa, taubat dan alam akhirat. Kajian ini juga mendapati bahawa pemikiran masyarakat Gayo Lues menyentuh soal alam semesta, flora, fauna dan peralatan harian yang digunakan oleh manusia. Seterusnya, masyarakat Gayo Lues menyakini bahawa manusia pertama dicipta Allah s.w.t. adalah Nabi Adam dan Hawa sebagai manusia kedua. Adam dan Hawa nenek moyang semua manusia. Selain itu, pemikiran masyarakat Gayo Lues turut menyentuh soal kehidupan sosial, hubungan kekerabatan dan strata sosial dalam masyarakat mereka.
