Modus Subjungtif dalam Bahasa Prancis

Abstract

This thesis is entitled "The Subjunctive Mode in French". The research method utilized a descriptive approach for the purpose of producing a systematic description of data, characteristics and the relationships of the phenomena investigated. The sources of data for this research are literary resources, namely the novels "La premiere epouse", Et si c'etait vrai", and "Les vieillards de Brighton". The collected data were analyzed using a comprehension method and a comprehension-record method. The research employs the structural linguistic theory postulated by Peytard et.al to determine the usage of the subjunctive mode in independent clauses and subordinate clauses, and also to find the most dominant type of agreement between the main clause verb-tense with the subordinate verb clause. The result of the research showed that the use of subjunctive mode in the main clause is less frequent than the use of the subjunctive mode in the subordinate clause; the most dominant type of agreement between the main clause verb-tense with the subordinate verb clause is that if the main clause is present indicative, therefore the verb tense of the subordinate clause is present subjunctive.

Judul penelitian ini Modus Subjungtif dalam bahasa Prancis. Penelitian ini menggunakan Metode Deskriptif yang bertujuan membuat deskripsi secara sistematis mengenai data, sifat-sifat serta hubungan fenomena-fenomena yang teliti. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah sumber data kepustakaan yaitu novel-novel" La premiere epouse". "Et si c' etait vrai", dan "Les vieillards de Brighton". Data yang sudah terkumpul dikaji dengan metode simak dan tehnik simak catat. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori linguistik struktural yang dikemukakan Peytard dkk yaitu untuk menentukan pemakaian modus subjungtif dalam klausa bebas dan klausa subordinatif, mencari tipe yang paling dominant penyesuaian kala verba klausa utama dengan verba klausa subordinatif. Hasil Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pemakaian modus subjungtif dalam klausa utama tidak sesering pemakaian modus subjungtif dalam klausa subordinatif, tipe yang paling dominan penyesuaian kala verba klausa utama dengan verba klausa subordinatif ialah apabila klausa utama indikatif presen maka kala verba klausa subordinatif subjungtif presen.
