dc.description.abstractChitosan beads as biopolymer were used to adsorb heavy metals such as Pb and Cr in wastewater from electroplating industry. This process is based on the binding of metals ions through biopolymer in form of various groups such as amino and hydroxyl groups in chitosan and the carboxyl group in alginate. Variables were contact time and concentration of chitosan beads. The concentrations of Pb and Cr in wastewater before and after treatment were measured using the Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). Chitosan beads was effective in binding metal ions Pb and Cr from wastewater of electroplating industry which is relevant to the maximum limit due to the government regulation. The capacity of chitosan beads in metal ion Ph adsorption was 99,83% which was achieved using optimum contact time of 30 minutes and the total amount of chitosan beads was 109 in 50 mL sample and for metal ion Cr adsorption was 99,27 % which was achieved using optimum contact time of 50 minutes and the total amount of chitosan beads was 5 g in 50 mL sample wastewater from electroplating industry.en_US
dc.description.abstractKitosan manik merupakan biopolimer yang dimanfaatkan sebagai penyerap logam berat Pb dan Cr dan limbah cair industri pelapisan logam telah diteliti. Proses ini berdasarkan pada pengikatan ion logam melalui biopolimer dalam berbagai gugus fungsional seperti gugus amino dan hidroksil dalam kitosan dan gugus karboksil dalam alginat, Variabel yang digunakan adalah waktu kontak dan konsentrasi kitosan manik. Kadar logam berat Pb dan Cr sebelum dan sesudah periakuau diukur dengan Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). Kitosan manik mampu menurunkan kadar logam berat Pb dart Cr sampai memenuhi baku mutu yang diizinkan oleh pemerintah. Daya serap kitosan manik tertinggi terhadap logam Pb sebesar 99,83% tercapai pada waktu kontak 30 menit dan jumlah kitosan manik yang digunakan 109 dalam 50 ml sampel limbah cair, sedangkan daya serap kitosan manik tertinggi untuk logam Cr sebesar 99,27% tercapai pada waktu kontak 50 menit dengan jumlah kitosan manik yang digunakan 5 g dalam 50 ml sampel limbah cair industri pelapisan logam.en_US
