    Sintesis Surfaktan Tert-Butil 6-O-Butanoil Galaktosida Melalui Reaksi Setalisasi Antara Galaktosa dengan Tert-Butanol yang Diikuti Reaksi Esterifikasi dengan Asam Butirat

    Abstract
    A surfactant tert-butil-c-Osbutanoyl galactoside ester has been synthesized from galaktose, tert-butanol and butyric acid in a series of reactions, i.e. acetalization and esterification. Acetalization of D-galaetose with tert-butanol in petroleum eter as a solvent using para toluene sulfonic acid as a catalyst gave tert-butyl galactoside. The product was selectively esterificated with butiric acid using para toluene sulfonic acid as a catalyst to produce tert-butyl-e-Osbutanoyl galactoside ester. Each step of reaction was characterized by analysis spectroscopy FT-IR, IH-NMR, and the measurement of surface tesion. The compound tert-butyl-S-Ocbutanoyl galactoside ester produced was a surfactant with critical micelle (CMC) was 0.006% and HLB value 3.50.
     
    Surfaktan ester tert-butil-6-0-butanoil galaktosida dapat disintesis dari galaktosa, tert-butanol dan asam butirat melalui satu seri reaksi yakni asetalisasi dan esterifikasi. Asetalisasi dari D-galaktosa dengan tert-butanol dari dalam pelarut petroleum eter menggunakan katalisasam para toluen sulfonat menghasilkan tert-butil galaktosida. Hasil asetalisasi ini diesterifikasi secara selektif dengan asam butirat menggunakan katalis asam para toluen sulfonat dan dihasilkan ester tert-butil-6-0butanoil galaktosida. Setiap tahap reaksi dikarakterisasi dengan analisis spektroskopi FT-IR, IH-NMR, dan pengukuran tegangan permukaan. Senyawa ester tert-butil-6-0-butanoil galaktosida yang diperoleh adalah suatu surfaktan dengan konsentrasi misel kritis (CMC) adalah 0,006% dan nilai HLB 3,50.
