    Respon Morfologi dan Fisiologi pada Kelapa Sawit (Elaeis Guneensis Jacq.) terhadap Aplikasi Pupuk Magnesium dan Nitrogen

    Abstract
    The aim of the present study is to investigate the physiological and morphological responses to three concentration of magnesium (low,medium and high) and two level nitrogen (with or without) fertilization of oil palm. Factorial Randomized Design was used 2 factors. The oil palm was 8 years old. The treatmenst with nitrogen and magnesium fertilizer has been starting since 2007-2013. Observation was started on July-September 2013 at Physiology laboratory of North Sumtera University. Total sample was 54 unit and each plot divided be 3 sample (1, 5 and 9 plant). The first factor was nitrogen at the concentration of 0 (without nitrogen) and 1(with nitrogen), while the second was magnesium at 0 (without magnesium); 1 (medium ) and 2 ( high). These characteristic and related parameters determined and the experiment result are list as follows: Nitrogen and magnesium fertilizer application increased total chlorophyll , density of stomatal and diameter of girth. These experiment result that nitrogen and magnesium fertilizer application had greater influence in morphology response (leaf area, total leaflet, girth, dry weight and thick of leaves). Deficiency of nitrogen and magnesium fertilizer had the greatest impact on change in physyology traits of oil palm.
     
    Kajian penelitian bertujuan untuk menyelidiki respon morfologi dan fisiologi dari tiga konsentrasi pupuk magnesium dan dua tingkat pupuk nitrogen pada kelapa sawit. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Faktorial. Tanaman yang diamati berumur 8 tahun. Perlakuan pemupukan dimulai tahun 2007-2013. Pengamatan dan analisa di laboratorium dimulai bulan Juli- September 2013 di Laboratorium Fisiologi Universitas Sumatera Utara. Jumlah sampel penelitian seluruhnya 54 unit plot dan masing- masing unit plot diambil 3 pohon yaitu pohon 1, 5 dan 9. Perlakuan pemupukan sebagai berikut: N0 = Perlakuan tanpa nitrogen; N1= Perlakuan dengan nitrogen; Mg0= Perlakuan dengan magnesium konsentrasi rendah; Mg1= Perlakuan dengan magnesium konsentrasi sedang; Mg2= Perlakuan dengan magnesium konsentrasi tinggi. Karakteristik dan parameter yang diamati berdasarkan penelitan menunjukkan: Aplikasi pupuk nitrogen dan magnesium meningkatkan jumlah klorofil , kerapatan stomata, dan diameter girth. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi nitrogen dan magnesium menimbulkan respon morfologi (luas daun, jumlah anak daun, berat kering anak daun/satuan luas, dan tebal daun). Defisiensi pupuk nitrogen dan magnesium menunjukkan pengaruh paling besar pada perubahan fisiologi pada perlakuan yang diberikan pada kelapa sawit.
