dc.description.abstractOne such alternative sources of antibacterial compound is derived from sea star. In this study extraction of sea star (Asterias forbesii) has been caried out to obtain antibacterial compounds. To determine bioactive compounds in the extract of sea star chemical test has been conducted. Toxicity of secondary metabolites was determind using method of Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT). Assay of antibacterial activity of starfish extract was conducted against four pathogenic bacterial strains, two Gram-positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis, and two Gram-negative bacteria Pseudomonas aeroginosa and Escherichia coli. The result showed that the metanol extract contained alkaloid, terpenoids, saponins, and flavonoids, while the extract of n-hexane and ethyl acetate only contain saponins and flavonoids. BSLT test showed that LC50 of extract of n-hexane, ethyl acetate and metanol were 1412,54 ppm, 13182,57 ppm and 63,10 ppm respectively. Antibacterial activity showed that activity of the metanol extract of starfish have the highest inhibition against several bacterial pathogens compared to that of ethyl acetate and n-hexane extract with inhibition zone of 9.5 mm, 8.5 mm, 10.0 mm, 11.0 mm in S. aureus, B. subtilis, P. aeroginosa and E. coli respectively. It was showed that of TLC preparatif triterpenoid is capable to inhibit more in Gram negative bacteria (E. coli and P. aeruginosa) bacteria compared to the of Gram positive (S. aureus and B. subtilis) .en_US
dc.description.abstractSalah satu bahan alternatif sebagai antibakteri yang berasal dari hasil perairan yakni bintang laut. Dalam penelitian ekstraksi bintang laut mampu menghasilkan senyawa anti bakteri. Untuk menentukan komponen bioaktif ekstrak bintang laut dilakukan uji senyawa kimia. Pengujian Sifat toksisitas senyawa metabolit skunder dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode Brine Shrimb Lethality Test (BSLT). Pengujian aktifitas antibakteri ekstrak bintang laut dilakukan terhadap beberapa jenis bakteri patogen dua spesies Gram positif Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, dan dua spesies Gram negatif Pseudomonas auroginosa dan Escherchia coli. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak metanol mengandung komponen senyawa alkaloida, terpenoida, saponin dan flavonoida, sedangkan ekstrak n-heksana dan etil asetat hanya mengandung senyawa saponin dan flavonoid. Hasil uji BSLT diperoleh nilai LC50 ekstrak n-heksana, etil asetat dan metanol masing-masing 1412,54 ppm, 13182,57 ppm dan 63,10 ppm. Hasil pengujian aktifitas anti bakteri dinyatakan bahwa ekstrak metanol bintang laut memiliki daya hambat tertinggi terhadap beberapa jenis bakteri patogen dibandingkan dengan ekstrak etil asetat dan n-heksana dengan diameter zona hambat 9,5 mm, 8,5 mm, 10,0 mm 11 mm pada masing-masing bakteri S. aureus, B. subtilis, P. auroginosa dan E. coli. Setelah dilakukan pengujian senyawa triterpenoida menggunakan KLT preparative dapat dinyatakan bahwa bakteri Gram negative (E. coli, P. auroginosa) lebih aktif dibandingkan dengan bakteri Gram positif (S. aureus, B. subtilis).en_US
