dc.description.abstractStudy on the effect of varying influent COD concentration, hydraulic retention time (HRT) of the reactor, and height of medium of the reactor to percentage reduction of COD and mixed liquor suspended solid (MLSS) from tofu wastewater was conducted in a two stages anaerobic biological filter reactor by using gravel packing medium. The operation variables were the COD influent (2000, 3000 mg/L and without dilution), the HRT (12, 18 and 24 hours) and the height of medium (100 and 125 cm). The results of the analysis showed that the reduction of COD was affected by HRT, while the reduction MLSS was not affected by HRT. The percentages of COD and MLSS removal were increased as well as the decrease of the concentration of COD influent. Total reduction of COD and MLSS at 125 cm bed height was higher than 100 cm bed height. The use of 18 to 24 hours HRT and the 2000 mg/L of COD influent gave the best percentage total reduction of COD (71.94 and 59.85% for 125 and 100 cm the bed height, respectively). At the same condition, the average of percentage MLSS removal was 81.37% and 75.98%.en_US
dc.description.abstractPenelitian untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi COD influent, hydraulic retention time (HRT) dan tinggi unggun terhadap % penurunan COD dan MLSS secara biofiltrasi anaerob dari limbah cair industri tahu telah dilaksanakan dalam reaktor fixed-bed dua tahap dengan media kerikil. Variabel operasi penelitian adalah konsentrasi COD influent (2000, 3000 mg/L dan tanpa pengenceran), HRT (12, 18 dan 24 jam) dan tinggi unggun (100 dan 125 cm). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, bahwa peningkatan HRT berpengaruh terhadap penurunan total COD tetapi tidak terhadap MLSS. Penurunan konsentrasi COD umpan meningkatkan persentase reduksi total COD dan MLSS. Reduksi total COD dan MLSS pada tinggi unggun 125 cm lebih tinggi dibanding tinggi unggun 100 cm. Penggunaan HRT 18 – 24 jam dan konsentrasi COD influent 2000 mg/L memberikan hasil yang terbaik untuk penurunan total COD (71,94% dan 59,85% masing-masing untuk tinggi unggun 125 dan 100 cm). Sementara pada kondisi yang sama penyisihan MLSS masing-masing sebesar 81,37% dan 75,98%.en_US
