Analisis Struktur Skematika Genre: Studi Kasus Teks Mahasiswa Fakultas Sastra USU

Abstract

This thesis deals with an analysis on schematic structures of the students writings of Faculty of Letters, University of North Sumatera, These students were represented by English and Literature Students. The writer has collected 150 writings and divided into two large groups as female students and male students. From these 150 writings the writer selected six of each genre by detail, 3 male students and 3 female students of what has been found in their writings in terms of genre are narration, recount, description, exposition, procedure and report. Besides, the schematic structures found in their writings are abstract, orientation, complication, resolution, code, introduction, description, exposition and event It implies that the students' competence in using schematic structures in their writings is really very good. The writer also found out a slight difference of using these schematic structures among male and female students. Male students are strictly more vivid and stronger in expressing their ideas than female ones. Besides, the female students are more dominant ill the way they express their ideas than male ones do

Tesis ini merupakan analisis genre tulisan mahasiswa, khususnya mengenai struktur skematika, Kajian ini merupakan studi kasus dengan sample tulisan mahasiswa Jurusan Bahasa dan Sastra Inggris Fakultas Sastra Universitas Sumatera Utara, Dari 150 teks tulisan mahasiswa diambil 6 karangan untuk tiap-tiap jenis genre dengan rincian 3 mahasiswa perempuan dan 3 mahasiswa laki-laki. Genre yang ditemukan dalam karya mahasiswa adalah narasi, kisah, deskripsi, ekspansi, prosedur dan laporan. Untuk struktur skematika ditemukan berupa abstrak, orientasi, komplikasi, resolusi, koda untuk narasi dan kisah, Pendahuluan, peristiwa, simpulan dan saran ditemukan dalam struktur genre tulisan lainnya. Dalam kajian ini digunakan teori linguistik fungsional sistemik. Temuan penelitian adalah bahwa kemampuan mahasiswa Sastra menggunakan struktur skematika dalarn genre tulisan benar-benar sangat baik, baik untuk mahasiswa perempuan maupun mahasiswa laki-Iaki, Perbedaannya mahasiswa laki-laki lebih kuat dan tegas dalam tulisan mereka untuk mengungkapkan ide-ide dibandingkan mahasiswa perempuan.
