    Imregnasi Kayu Kelapa Sawit Dengan Polipropilena Bekas Yang Dimodifikasi Dengan Asam Akrila

    Abstract
    The impregnation of oil palm trunk with polypropylene waste which has been modified with acrylic acid has been carryed out. Sellulose as a natural polymer of the oil palm trunk interacted with polypropylene and the mechanical properties of the oil palm trunk was increased. Benzoil peroxide was used as inlsiator in modification of the polypropylene. The impregnation of the oil palm trunk with the polypropylene was carryed out at the condition of 1, 2 & 3 kg/cm2 with the duration time of 30, 45 & 60 minutes, respectively. The temperatur of impregnation was 175°C. The impregnated oil palm trunk was analyzed by measurement of Modulus of Elasticity (MOE), Modulus of Rupture (MAR), Scanning Electro Microscope (SEM), Fourier Transform Infra Red (FT./R) and X - Ray methods. The result showed optimum condition was at 1 kg/cm2 and 60 minutes duration time. The value of MOE, MAR and degree of cristalynity of oil palm trunk was increased. The analysis results of SEM, FT.IR and X – Ray methods showed that resin can entered to inner of the oil palm trunk and the interaction between resin and sellulose of the oil palm trunk was by hidrogen bonding.
     
    Telah dilakukan impregnasi kayu kelapa sawit (KKS) dengan polipropilena yang dimodifikasi dengan asam akrilat. Selulosa sebagai polimer alam dalam KKS mampu berinteraksi dengan polipropilena yang dimodifikasi dengan asam akrilat, sehingga dapat meningkatkan sifat mekanis KKS. Benzoil peroksida digunakan sebagai inisiator untuk memicu modifikasi polipropilena dengan asam akrilat. Impregnasi KKS dengan polipropilena hasil modifikasi (resin) dilakukan dalam suatu reaktor bertekanan pada kondisi (P) 1, 2 dan 3 kg/cm2 dengan waktu 30, 45 dan 60 menit. Suhu impregnasi disesuaikan dengan suhu leleh resin (175° C). KKS hasil impregnasi dianalisa dengan uji mekanis yaitu Modulus Elastisitas (MOE) dan Modulus Patah (MAR), Scaning Electro Microscop (SEM) dan Fourier Transform Infra Red (FT.IR) dan sinar - X. Hasil impregnasi menunjukkan bahwa kondisi Impregnasi optimum adalah pada tekanan (P) 1 kg/cm2 dan waktu 60 menit dengan peningkatan MOE dan MAR masing-masing 92,68 % dan 103 %. Derajat kristalinitas meningkat dari 36 % menjadi 43 %. Dari hasil analisa SEM, FT.IR dan sinar X terlihat bahwa resin dapat memasuki bagian dalam KKS dan antara resin resin dengan selulosa KKS terjadi interaksi melalui pembentukan jembatan hidrogen.
