A Description of Plot in Dyan Sheldon’s Novel My Worst Best Friend

Abstract

This paperentitled “A Description of Plotin My Worst Best FriendNovel by Dyan Sheldon.” The novel tells story about the friendship of two 16 year old girls that spend everyday of their teenage lives together, and are two totally different people. Gracie cares s much about the world and prefers to dress down instead of dress up. Savanna on the other hands is a super girly and cares more about her style and boys. Gracie and Savanna get into a fight and ignore each other. They begin to realize that their friendship wasn’t as strong as they thought. In this paper the writer will discuss about the plot or commonly referred to as the storyline.The writer analyses how the plot is written based on the elements which are divided into five, that are exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. The writer hopes that this paper can be useful for the readers in developing knowledge about plot as one of elements of fiction and can help the readers in understanding the story line of the novel My Worst Best Friend.

Kertas karya yang berjudul “A Description of Plot in My Worst Best Friend Novel by Dyan Sheldon.” Novel ini berisi tentang persahabatan dari dua gadis berusia 16 tahun yang memiliki kepribadian yang bertolak belakang dan setiap hari menikmati masa remajanya berdua. Gracie cendrung tidak peduli terhadap penampilan fisik dan menyukai permainan menantang. Savanna adalah kebalikannya, dia sangat feminine dan menyukai segala hal tentang busana dan cara menarik perhatian pria. Hingga suatu hari mereka bertengkar dan saling mengacuhkan. Mereka menyadari bahwa persahabatan mereka tidak lagi bias dipertahankan. Penulis melihat bagaimana penulisan plot pada novel ini dibentuk berdasarkan unsur-unsurnya yang terbagi lima, yaitu exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, danresolution. Penulis berharap kertas karya ini dapat bermanfaat bagi pembaca dalam menambah pengetahuan tentang plot sebagai salah satu unsur fiksi dan dapat membantu pembaca dalam memahami alur cerita dari novel My Worst Best Friend ini.
