The business process is one of the important things in an organization’s life. A slow
process in business process indicates that there is a sequence of process which is
not effective. To improve business process, it needs evaluation regularly to see the
effectiveness of existing process. One of the method to improve business process is
Business Process Reengineering. In order to improve the business process, this
research is done at the Faculty of Engineering especially the academic subsection.
According to the value added assessment to the existing business process in the
academic subsection at Faculty of Engineering, University of North Sumatra, it is
obtained that there are some processes categorized into Real Value Added (RVA),
Business Value Added (BVA), and Non-Value Added (NVA). Most of the Business
Value Added process is approval process and most of the Non-Value Added process
is the re-verification process. After doing value added analysis, improvement and
completion of business process is applied to the existing business process. The
result of improvement shows increasing of RVA percentage and the reduction of
NVA percentage. The suggestion to the business process with highest percentage
enhancement of RVA is the service business process of graduation registration and
certificates becomes 70,37% from 45,45%. The highest percentage reduction of
NVA is the service business process of graduation registration and certificates
becomes 14,81% from 36,36%. Moreover, it is obtained the process reduction in
every business process that have been improved. The existing business process with
the highest number of process and undergoes the biggest process reduction is the
business process of progress study evaluation, it is 71 processes and after
improvement undergoes process reduction becomes 59 processes. Proses bisnis merupakan suatu hal yang sangat penting bagi berlangsungnya
kehidupan suatu organisasi. Proses yang lambat dalam proses bisnis
mengindikasikan bahwa adanya serangkaian proses yang tidak efektif. Dalam
rangka perbaikan proses bisnis perlu dilakukan evaluasi secara berkala untuk
melihat efektivitas proses yang ada. Salah satu metode untuk perbaikan proses
bisnis adalah Business Process Reengineering. Dalam rangka perbaikan proses
bisnis, penelitian dilakukan pada Subbagian Akademik. Berdasarkan analisis nilai
tambah terhadap proses bisnis eksisting di Subbag Akademik FT USU diperoleh
beberapa proses yang tergolong ke dalam Real Value Added (RVA), Business Value
Added (BVA), dan Non-Value Added (NVA). Proses yang temasuk dalam kategori
Business Value Added kebanyakan merupakan proses approval dan proses yang
termasuk Non-Value Added kebanyakan merupakan proses verifikasi berulangulang.
Setelah melakukan analisis nilai tambah, dilakukan perbaikan dan
penyempurnaan proses bisnis dengan eliminasi, simplifikasi, integrasi dan
otomatisasi terhadap proses bisnis eksisting. Hasil perbaikan menunjukkan
peningkatan persentase RVA dan pengurangan persentase nilai NVA. Proses bisnis
usulan dengan peningkatan persentase nilai RVA tertinggi adalah proses bisnis
layanan pendaftaran wisuda dan SKTL yang menjadi 70,37% dari 45,45%. Proses
bisnis usulan dengan pengurangan persentase NVA tertinggi adalah proses bisnis
pendaftaran wisuda dan SKTL yang menjadi 14,81% dari 36,36%. Selain itu, juga
diperoleh pengurangan jumlah proses dari setiap proses bisnis yang diperbaiki.
Proses bisnis eksisting dengan proses terbanyak dan yang mengalami pengurangan
jumlah proses terbesar adalah proses bisnis evaluasi kemajuan studi mahasiswa
yaitu 71 proses dan setelah perbaikan mengalami pengurangan jumlah proses
menjadi 59 proses.
