Above ground biomass and carbon were estimated in heath forest stand in
Danau Sentarum National Park (DSNP), West Kalimantan. The research was
carried out from December 2003 to February 2004, and allometric relation method
was use to estimate the above ground tree biomass and carbon of heath forest
stand having a diameter of 2 em and over, and destructive method was use to
estimate the above ground biomass and carbon of understorey, litters, and aerial
roots. Soil carbon content was estimated by Walkley and Black method. The
relationship between a diameter and height of the trees was fairly good
approximated by a hyperbolic function. Besides, the relationship between tree
biomass and diameter as well as tree carbon and diameter followed logarithmic
function. Amount of soil carbon had not correlation with above ground carbon.
Our result obtained showed that the above ground tree biomass and carbon of
heath forest in DSNP were amounted to 874.9 t/ha and 169.2 t C/ha, respectively.
Besides, the above ground biomass and carbon of understorey, litters and aerial
roots were 29.5 t/ha and 6.9 t C/ha, respectively. Biomassa dan karbon di atas permukaan tanah dari tegakan hutan kerangas di
Taman Nasional Danau Sentarum TNDS, Kalimantan Barat telah diduga dalam
kurun waktu Desember 2003 - Febmari 2004. Metode hubungan alometrik
digunakan untuk menduga biomassa dan karbon di atas permukaan tanah dari
pohon yang berdiameter 2 cm atau lebib, sedangkan biomassa dan karbon
tumbuhan bawah, serasah dan akar nafas diduga dengan metode destruktif.
Kandungan karbon tanah diduga dengan menggunakan metode Walkley & Black.
Hubungan antara diameter dan tinggi pobon sangat baik dengan mengikuti fungsi
hiperbolik. Sedangkan, hubungan antara biomassa di atas permukaan tanah
dengan diameter pobon, maupun karbon di atas permukaan tanah dengan diameter
pohon mengikuti fungsi logaritma. Tidak ada korelasi antarajumlah karbon tanah
dengan karbon di atas permukaan tanah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa
biomassa dan karbon bagian pohon di atas permukaan tanah secara berturut-turut
adalah 874,9 t1ha and 169,2 t Clba. Sedangkan biomassa dan karbon tumbuhan
bawah, serasab dan akar nafas secara berturut-turut adalah 29,5 t1ha and 6,9 t
e/ha.
