Gaya Hidup Konsumtif Mahasiswi Penerima Beasiswa BMI dalam Perspektif Dramaturgi (Studi Kasus Asrama Putri Universitas X di Kota Medan)

Abstract

The study studied in this research is the Consumptive Lifestyle of BMI Scholarship Recipients in Dramaturgy Perspective Case Study of the Women's Dormitory of University X, Medan City. Through this research, researchers want to see how the consumptive lifestyle of BMI scholarship recipients and the form of the front stage in displaying their identity and the form of the back stage of female students in an effort to fulfill a consumptive lifestyle. The method used in this research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation, in-depth interviews and relevant literature studies. The technique for determining informants is purposive sampling by interviewing 12 informants, namely 10 key informants and 2 additional informants. The results of this study are the selection of the consumptive lifestyle of BMI scholarship recipients does not prioritize the allocation of scholarship funds for facilities or needs to support education. Consumption by BMI students is no longer oriented to the necessities of life but a lifestyle of shopping/shopping hang out hanging out in cafes, entertainment or recreation by showing consumptive products, clothing, technology, which are wrapped in appearance this is marked by an interest in symbols from other people through symbols social. Realizing that the BMI scholarship allowance cannot fully meet their needs, there are efforts to fulfill a consumptive lifestyle by BMI students asking for money from parents, fasting after consumptive, free consumptive, selling personal goods, dissaving (debt), working after consumptive and shopping. Monja after being consumptive and in arrears in paying dorm fees.

Studi yang dikaji dalam penelitian ini adalah Gaya Hidup Konsumtif Mahasiswi Penerima Beasiswa BMI Dalam Perspektif Dramaturgi Studi Kasus Asrama Putri Universitas X Kota Medan. Lewat penelitian ini peneliti ingin melihat bagaimana gaya hidup konsumtif mahasiswi penerima beasiswa BMI dan bentuk panggung depan dalam menampilkan Identitas diri dan bentuk panggung belakang mahasiswi dalam upaya memenuhi gaya hidup konsumtif. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara mendalam dan studi literatur yang relavan. Adapun teknik penentuan informan secara purposive sampling dengan mewawancarai 12 informan yakni 10 informan kunci dan 2 informan tambahan. Hasil penelitian ini adalah Pemilihan gaya hidup konsumtif mahasiswi penerima beasiswa BMI terlihat kurang mengutamakan alokasi dana beasiswa untuk sarana atau kebutuhan dalam menunjang pendidikan. Konsumsi yang dilakukan Mahasiswi BMI tidak lagi berorientasi pada kebutuhan hidup melainkan gaya hidup shopping/ngemall hang out nongkrong di cafe, hiburan atau rekreasi dengan mempertunjukkan produk konsumtif pakaian, teknologi, yang terbungkus dalam penampilan hal ini ditandai dengan ketertarikan pada simbol dari orang lain melalui lambang sosialnya. Menyadari bahwa uang saku beasiswa BMI tidak dapat mencukupi kebutuhan hidupnya secara utuh terdapat upaya pemenuhan gaya hidup konsumtif yang dilakukan mahasiswi BMI meminta uang kepada orang tua, puasa setelah konsumtif, konsumtif gratisan, menjual barang pribadi, dissaving (berhutang), bekerja setelah konsumtif dan belanja monja setelah konsumtif serta menunggaknya pembayaran uang asrama.
