    Abstract
    Fly Ash is the result of burning coal in the form of ash particles that are carried into the air together with the exhaust gases. According to regulation PP85/1999, fly ash waste is categorized as B3 waste. Phenol is a highly toxic compound that is carcinogenic and has a pungent odor and is difficult to degrade biologically. The main sources of phenol waste are petroleum refineries, petrochemicals, steel mills, coke oven factories, coal gas, synthetic resins, drugs, etc. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in fly ash mass on the adsorption process, obtaining the optimum pH in the process. adsorption, and obtain the appropriate isotherm and adsorption kinetics model used for the phenol adsorption model. In this study, fly ash was sieved until homogeneous and then the optimum mass of fly ash was determined by using the adsorbent mass variations, namely 15 grams, 20 grams, 25 grams, and 30 grams. Furthermore, the fly ash was activated by 8 M HCl and impregnated with 2% FeCl3. Optimum pH was tested with pH variations of 6,7,8,9,10, and 11 and tested for variations in optimum phenol concentrations of 125 mg/l, 150 mg/l, 175 mg/l, and 200 mg/l. The optimum conditions for adsorption were 20 grams with an adsorption efficiency of 90.55%, pH 6 with an adsorption efficiency of 95.49%, and a phenol concentration of 125 mg/l with an adsorption efficiency of 96.75%. The appropriate adsorption isotherm modeling is Fraundlich and Langmuir adsorption isotherm which occurs in mono-layer and multi-layer, and the appropriate kinetic model is pseudo second order with correlation coefficient R2 = 0.9916.
     
    Fly Ash adalah hasil pembakaran batubara dalam bentuk abu partikel yang terbawa ke udara bersama-sama dengan gas buangan. Menurut peraturan PP85/1999, limbah fly ash dikategorikan sebagai limbah B3. Fenol merupakan senyawa yang sangat toksik bersifat karsinogenik dan berbau menyengat dan sulit untuk didegradasi secara biologis. Sumber utama limbah fenol adalah kilang minyak bumi, petrokimia, pabrik baja, pabrik oven kokas, gas batubara, resin sintetis, obat-obatan, dll .Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi massa fly ash terhadap proses adsorpsi, mendapatkan pH optimum pada proses adsorpsi, dan mendapatkan model isoterm dan kinetika adsorpsi yang sesuai digunakan untuk model adsorpsi fenol. Pada penelitian ini fly ash diayak hingga homogen kemudian ditentukan massa optimum fly ash dengan menggunakan variasi massa adsorben adalah 15 gram, 20 gram, 25 gram, dan 30 gram. Selanjutnya fly ash diaktivasi HCl 8 M dan di impregnasi FeCl3 2 %. Dilakukan pengujian pH optimum dengan variasi pH 6,7,8,9,10, dan 11 dan dilakukan pengujian variasi kosentrasi fenol optimum 125 mg/l, 150 mg/l, 175 mg/l, dan 200 mg/l . Kondisi optimum untuk adsorpsi adalah 20 gram dengan efisiensi penjerap sebesar 90,55 %, pH 6 dengan efisiensi penjerapan sebesar 95,49 %, dan kosentrasi fenol 125 mg/l dengan efisiensi penjerapan sebesar 96,75 %. Pemodelan isoterm adsorpsi yang sesuai adalah isoterm adsorpsi fraundlich dan langmuir yang terjadi secara mono-layer dan multi-layer, serta model kinetika yang sesuai adalah pseudo orde dua dengan koefisien korelasi R2 = 0,9916.
