This study is conducted to determine language attitudes and motivation towards English of the Islamic Boarding School of Musthafawiyah Purba Baru students with a quantitative-qualitative approach. Islamic Boarding Schools in Indonesia were often assumed to perceive English negatively and also assumed to be an educational institution that emphasizes anti-modern, anti-Western, and anti-pluralistic communities. Aliyah grade of Islamic Boarding School of Musthafawiyah Purba Baru become the source of the data with 98 respondents, where this Islamic Boarding School of applied Muadalah curriculum based on Yellow Book (Dirasah Islamiyah). The data of this study were collected through interviews and two kinds of questionnaires, each with a 5-point Likert-type scale and Guttman scale. This study indicates that the Aliyah grade of Islamic Boarding School of Musthafawiyah Purba Baru students has positive perceptions towards English. Besides, the result of the study also indicates that the level of motivation of the Islamic Boarding School of Musthafawiyah Purba Baru students is moderate with 69.38%, and extrinsic motivation dominating with 66% of. The Aliyah grade of Islamic Boarding School of Musthafawiyah Purba Baru tends to understand and accept globalization and modernization even though they learn with the Muadalah curriculum. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui sikap bahasa dan motivasi terhadap Bahasa Inggris santri Pondok Pesantren Musthafawiyah Purba Baru dengan pendekatan kuantitatif-kualitatif. Pesantren di Indonesia seringkali dianggap mempersepsikan bahasa Inggris secara negatif dan juga dianggap sebagai lembaga pendidikan yang mengedepankan komunitas anti-modern, anti-Barat, dan anti-pluralistik. Kelas Aliyah Pondok Pesantren Musthafawiyah Purba Baru menjadi sumber data dengan 98 responden, dimana Pondok Pesantren ini menerapkan kurikulum Muadalah berbasis Kitab Kuning (Dirasah Islamiyah). Data penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan dua jenis kuesioner, masing-masing dengan skala tipe Likert 5 poin dan skala Guttman. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa kelas Aliyah Pondok Pesantren Musthafawiyah Purba Baru memiliki persepsi positif terhadap bahasa Inggris. Selain itu, hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa tingkat motivasi santri Pondok Pesantren Musthafawiyah Purba Baru adalah sedang dengan 69,38%, dan motivasi ekstrinsik mendominasi dengan 66%. Kelas Aliyah Pondok Pesantren Musthafawiyah Purba Baru cenderung memahami dan menerima globalisasi dan modernisasi meskipun mereka belajar dengan kurikulum Muadalah.
