dc.description.abstractThis present study aims to investigate the students’ attitude towards learning English. This study was conducted at state senior high school in Tanjung Pura. Female students (21) and male students (15) were chosen randomly based on the class free time. This study applied mix methods. The method of data collection of this research were using questionnaire and semi structured interview. The data analysis method of this study is used descriptive statistics, specifically percentages, to analyze questionnaire data and qualitative content analysis to analyze interview data. The qualitative data is derived from the responses of the students via a questionnaire. The quantitative data is the percentage of answers from the students’ questionnaire as well as the semi structured interview. The quantitative data came from questionnaire that was separated into two sections: attitude toward learning English and English language. The qualitative data is gathered from the interview sections. The students chosen to be interviewed were based on the students’ time of convenience. The findings demonstrate that the students of state senior high school in Tanjung Pura have positive attitude towards learning English and the English language and there are three factors shaping the attitude: cognitive, affective and behavioral aspects. The students demonstrate a positive attitude by saying positive words about English, how they feel about English, how fantastic it is to learn English, how fun it is to learn English, how important English is for them to get a job and so on.en_US
dc.description.abstractPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki sikap siswa terhadap pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMA Negeri di Tanjung Pura. Siswa perempuan (21) dan siswa laki-laki (15) dipilih secara acak berdasarkan waktu luang dikelas. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode campuran. Metode analisis data penelitian ini menggunakan statistik deskriptif, khususnya persentase, untuk menganalisis data kuesioner dan analisis isi kualitatif untuk menganalisis data wawancara. Data kualitatif diperoleh dari tanggapan siswa melalui angket. Data kuantitatif berupa persentase jawaban dari angket siswa serta wawancara semi terstruktur. Data kuantitatif berasal dari kuesioner yang menjadi dua bagian: sikap terhadap pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dan bahasa Inggris. Data kualitatif dikumpulkan dari bagian wawancara. Siswa yang dipilih untuk diwawancarai didasarkan pada kenyamanan waktu siswa. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa siswa SMA Negeri di Tanjung Pura memiliki sikap positif terhadap pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dan bahasa Inggris itu sendiri dan ada tiga faktor yang membentuk sikap: aspek kognitif, afektif dan perilaku. Siswa menunjukkan sikap positif dengan mengucapkan kata-kata positif tentang bahasa Inggris, bagaimana perasaan mereka tentang bahasa Inggris.en_US
