dc.description.abstractBackground: Temu giring rhizome belongs to the Zingiberaceae family which contains curcumin which is thought to reduce lipid levels in the blood. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the activity of the temu giring (Curcuma heyneana) rhizome ethanol extract in reducing body weight, total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL and LDL in male rats fed a diet high in fat and propylthiouracil. Method: This research begins with the manufacture of ethanol extract of temu giring rhizome (Curcuma heyneana). Furthermore, phytochemical characterization and screening. This test was carried out for 28 days using 24 rats which were divided into 6 groups namely normal group, negative control group (CMC Na), positive control group (Simvastatin) and 3 groups of dose variation (EERTG 10, 20, 40 mg/kg bw). For 14 days the mice were induced with a high fat diet and propylthiouracil. Then continued with the extract, simvastatin drug, and CMC Na for 14 days. Lipid profile examination was carried out twice, namely on day 14 and day 28. The test data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by Post Hock Tukey with a 95% confidence level. Result: EERTG 40 mg/kg bw significantly (p<0.05) reduced the body weight of rats by a mean of 212 ± 2.74, total cholesterol levels 106.25 ± 3.23 mg/dl, triglycerides 100.25 ± 0.85 mg/dl. dl, and LDL 13.5 ± 2.53 mg/dl and increased HDL levels 62 ± 1.29 mg/dl compared to the negative control. Conclusion: ethanol extract of temu giring rhizome (Curcuma heyneana) dose of 40 mg/kg bw can provide antihyperlipidemic effect in Wistar rats induced by a diet high in fat and propylthiouracil and can reduce body weight of rats.en_US
dc.description.abstractLatar belakang: Temu Giring merupakan famili Zingiberaceae yang mengandung kurkumin yang diduga dapat menurunkan kadar lipid dalam darah. Tujuan: Untuk mengetahui aktivitas ekstrak etanol rimpang temu giring (Curcuma heyneana) dalam menurunkan berat badan, kolesterol total, trigliserida, HDL dan LDL pada tikus jantan yang diinduk diet tinggi lemak dan propiltiourasil. Metode: Penelitian ini diawali dengan pembuatan ekstrak etanol rimpang temu giring (Curcuma heyneana). Selanjutnya karakterisasi dan skrining fitokimia. Pengujian ini dilakukan selama 28 hari menggunakan 24 ekor tikus yang dibagi dalam 6 kelompok yaitu kelompok normal, kelompok kontrol negatif (CMC Na), kelompok kontrol positif (Simvastatin) dan 3 kelompok variasi dosis (EERTG 10, 20, 40 mg/kg BB). Selama 14 hari tikus diinduksi dengan diet lemak tinggi dan propiltiourasil. Kemudian dilanjutkan pemberian ekstrak, obat simvastatin, dan CMC Na selama 14 hari. Pemeriksaan profil lipid dilakukan sebanyak 2 kali yaitu pada hari ke-14 dan hari ke-28. Data hasil pengujian dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA dilanjutkan dengan Post Hock Tukey dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95%. Hasil: EERTG dosis 40 mg/kg bb signifikan (p<0,05) menurunkan berat badan tikus dengan rerata 212 ± 2,74, kadar kolesterol total 106,25 ± 3,23 mg/dl, trigliserida 100,25 ± 0,85mg/dl, dan LDL 13,5 ± 2,53mg/dl serta menaikkan kadar HDL 62 ± 1,29mg/dl dibandimgkan kontrol negatif. Kesimpulan: ekstrak etanol rimpang temu giring (Curcuma heyneana) dosis 40mg/kg bb dapat memberikan efek antihiperlipidemia pada tikus Wistar yang diinduksi diet tinggi lemak dan propiltiourasil dan mampu menurunkan berat badan tikus.en_US
