    Evaluasi Kinerja Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah (IPAL) Rumah Sakit (Studi Kasus : Rumah Sakit Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan)

    Abstract
    Hospitals contain various kinds of waste. The waste is carried out at the type of house and the level of treatment before the waste is disposed of. The purpose of this study was to develop a hospital wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) (case study: North Sumatra University Hospital, Medan). This research was conducted at the University of North Sumatra Hospital, Jalan Dr. Mansyur Medan in February 2022. This type of research is a comparison between the output of wastewater from the wastewater treatment unit with the quality standards permitted by the government, referring to the Decree of the State Minister of the Environment Number: Kep-58/Menlh/12/1995 concerning Quality Standards Hospital Activity Liquid Waste December 21, 1995. Data processing techniques include calculating the effectiveness of the treatment unit at the hospital WWTP which is indicated by the percentage of pollutant removal. The results showed that the effectiveness of the WWTP based on the conditions and the performance of the WWTP was relatively good, with the efficiency for each parameter being quite good. The average efficiency of BOD parameters is 68.42%, COD is 66.95%, TSS is 79.25%, oil and fat is 84.84% and Total Coliform is 91.05%. The results of the evaluation on each WWTP unit did not meet the overall criteria both in the process and in the dimensions of the building. The quality of the waste is below the specified environmental quality standard and the efficiency is quite good. It is recommended to add a measuring device or flow rate at the inlet and outlet channels so that the discharge measurement is more accurate. Wastewater sampling is carried out at every available outlet for more accurate results. Mixer type axial flow impeller is good to use because it has a wider range.
     
    Limbah rumah sakit mengandung berbagai macam mikroorganisme bergantung pada jenis rumah sakit dan tingkat pengolahan yang dilakukan sebelum limbah tersebut dibuang. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi kinerja instalasi pengolahan air limbah (IPAL) rumah sakit (studi kasus : Rumah Sakit Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Rumah Sakit Universitas Sumatera Utara, Jalan Dr. Mansyur Medan pada bulan Februari 2022. Jenis penelitian adalah penelitian komparasi yaitu perbandingan output air limbah yang keluar dari unit pengolahan air limbah dengan baku mutu yang diizinkan oleh pemerintah, mengacu pada Keputusan Menteri Negara Lingkungan Hidup Nomor : Kep-58/Menlh/12/1995 tentang Baku Mutu Limbah Cair Kegiatan Rumah Sakit Tanggal 21 Desember 1995. Teknik pengolahan data meliputi perhitungan efektivitas unit pengolahan pada IPAL rumah sakit yang ditandai dengan persentase removal pencemar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa efektifitas IPAL berdasarkan kondisi dan kinerja IPAL relatif baik, dengan efisiensi untuk setiap parameter cukup baik. Efisiensi rata-rata parameter BOD sebesar 68,42%, COD sebesar 66,95%, TSS sebesar 79,25%, minyak dan lemak sebesar 84,84% dan Total Coliform sebesar 91,05%. Hasil evaluasi desain pada tiap unit IPAL tidak memenuhi keseluruhan kriteria literatur baik pada proses maupun dimensi bangunan. Kualitas effluent dibawah nilai baku mutu lingkungan yang ditetapkan dan efisiensi yang terjadi cukup baik. Disarankan menambahkan alat ukur atau laju alir pada saluran inlet dan outlet agar pengukuran debit lebih akurat. Sebaiknya pengambilan sampel air limbah dilakukan di setiap outlet yang ada agar hasil lebih akurat. Mixer jenis axial flow impeller baik digunakan karena memiliki jangkauan lebih luas.
