    Abstract
The increase in energy use is in line with the increasing level of community economic needs which can lead to a depletion of the amount of energy. The solution that can be done is to utilize alternative energy sources into biobriquettes. This study aims to determine the characteristics of briquettes from a mixture of peat soil and candlenut shells according to SNI 01-6235-2000, to determine the resulting emissions and to determine the variation of the best briquette composition. And to find out the analysis of the effect of water content, ash content, volatile matter, fixed carbon on the calorific value using the ANOVA test. The results obtained that the briquettes with the best mixture were briquettes variation 2 (70% : 30%) with a water content value of 10.16%, ash content 15.78%, volatile matter 1.58%, fixed carbon value 72.48%, the calorific value is 5.186 cal/gr, CO content is 235.42 mg/Nm3, NOx content is 40.98 mg/Nm3, and SO2 content is 12.40 mg/Nm3. The conclusion of this research is that the briquettes meet the criteria of SNI 01-6235-2000 on the Volatile Matter and Fixed carbon test briquettes. And in this study that water content, ash content, Volatile Matter, Fixed Carbon simultaneously affect the heating value of briquettes
