    Sintesis dan Karakterisasi Carbon Dots dari Bottom Ash Batubara dengan Urea sebagai Agen Pasivasi Menggunakan Metode Ultrasonik-Hidrotermal

    Abstract
    Bottom ash is a residual waste from burning coal that is still less used. Bottom ash contains unburned carbon that can be used as source material carbon for carbon dots synthesis. Carbon dots have many utilities in various fields. The aim of this study is that to synthesis carbon dots from coal bottom ash with urea as a passivation agent by using ultrasonic-hydrothermal methods. Unburned carbon from the bottom ash was separated by using a magnetic stirrer with anaquadest solvent. Synthesis of carbon dots by ultrasonic-hydrothermal method used mixed oxidizing agents H2O2 and CH3COOH. Ultrasonication was conducted for 30 minutes, followed hydrothermal method by heating at 200o C temperatures for 4 hours. Centrifuged at 4000 rpm for 20 minutes,was filtered with 0.45 micron filter paper, and was dialyzed for 48 hours. Synthesis of carbon dots from unburned carbon bottom ash with the addition of urea was conducted in a ratio (1: 1). Carbon dots under a UV lamp produces a blue glow. The UV-Visible absorbance spectras of carbon dots has an absorption peak at a wavelength of 230 nm and 231 nm. The FTIR spectras shows the presence of the stretching vibration of the O-H functional group, C = C, C-N, and C-O-C at respective a wave numbers of 3265.1 cm-1, 1640 cm-1, 1282.2 cm-1, and 1013.8 cm-1. The C-N functional group at a wave number of 1282.2 cm-1 shows that urea was successfully passivated on carbon dots. Photoluminescence analysis shows the emission peak at wavelengths of 482.59 nm with an intensity of 6262 a.u on carbon dots without a passivation agent and the emissions peak at a wavelength of 487.56 nm with the intensity of 17240 a.u on carbon dots with a passivation agent. Carbon dots without a passivation agent and with a passivation agent have quantum yields (QY) of 3.26% and 7.84% respectively. TEM analysis shows that carbon dots have an average diameter of 1,2 nm.
     
    Bottom ash merupakan limbah sisa pembakaran batubara yang masih sedikit dimanfaatkan. Bottom ash mengandung unburned carbon yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan sumber karbon untuk sintesis carbon dots. Carbon dots memiliki banyak kegunaan dalam berbagai bidang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mensintesis carbon dots dari bottom ash batubara dengan urea sebagai agen pasivasi menggunakan metode ultrasonik-hidrotermal. Unburned carbon dari bottom ash dipisahkan menggunakan magnetic stirrer dengan pelarut akuades. Sintesis carbon dots dengan metode ultrasonik-hidrotermal menggunakan agen pengoksida campuran H2O2 dan CH3COOH. Ultrasonikasi dilakukan selama 30 menit, diikuti metode hidrotermal dengan pemanasan pada suhu 200o C selama 4 jam. Disentrifugasi dengan kecepatan 4000 rpm selama 20 menit, disaring dengan kertas saring 0,45 mikron, dan didialisis selama 48 jam. Sintesis carbon dots dari unburned carbon bottom ash dengan penambahan urea dilakukan dengan perbandingan (1:1). Carbon dots dibawah lampu UV menghasilkan pandaran berwarna biru. Spektrum Absorbansi UV-Visible pada carbon dots memiliki puncak absorpsi pada panjang gelombang 230 nm dan 231 nm. Spektrum FTIR menunjukkan adanya vibrasi ulur gugus fungsi O-H, C=C, C-N, dan C-O-C pada masing-masing bilangan gelombang 3265,1 cm-1, 1640 cm-1, 1282,2 cm-1 , dan 1013,8 cm-1. Gugus fungsi C-N pada bilangan gelombang 1282,2 cm-1 menunjukkan urea berhasil dipasivasi pada carbon dots. Analisa Photoluminescence menunjukkan emisi puncak pada panjang gelombang 482,59 nm dengan intensitas sebesar 6262 a.u pada carbon dots tanpa agen pasivasi dan puncak emisi pada panjang gelombang 487,56 nm dengan intensitas sebesar 17240 a.u pada carbon dots dengan agen pasivasi. Carbon dots tanpa agen pasivasi dan carbon dots dengan agen pasivasi memiliki quantum yield (QY) masing-masing sebesar 3,26 % dan 7,84%. Analisa TEM menunjukkan bahwa carbon dots memiliki diameter rata-rata sebesar 1,2 nm.
