Mikrohidro have recognized as environmental friendly and appropriate technology for electricity needed in the rural area. Even through, implementation in Indonesia still very limited (8% from potential available). Subject to the situation, this research have conducted to investigate community effort to manage mikrohidro and its benefit for community in term of sustainable rural livelihood in Salabulan Village, Sibolangit Sub-district, Deli Serdang Regency of Sumatera Utara.
This research has conducted using sombine qualitative and quantitative technique where procedure using is dominant-less dominant design. This mixed method using qualitative technique as dominant (qualitative-dominant), where quantitative technique as less dominant (quantitative-less dominant). Data that by analyzed is collected from a literature study (secondary data) and field study by observation on the field situation, questioner, interview, depth interview and focus group discussion. Resource person involved in these data collection are mikrohidro’s committee, community leader, member’s representing and staffs of Yayasan Ate Keleng (YAK) who active assist/facilitate community on mikrohidro development at Salabulan Village.
