Heart failure is a condition in which heart as a pump is not able to fulfill the need for blood for the metabolism of body tissues, Heart failure inpatient generally undergo descrease in physical function and are highly dependable in their daily life, while heart failure outpatients are not dependable but apprehensive so that they will eventually undergo decrease in their quality of life. The mental status of heart failue patients often decreases in the aspects of attention, memory, affective, language, mind, and perception. The more serious one's illness is, the worse his mental status; in consequence, his apperhensiveness will be long-drawn. The objective of the research was to find out the correlation of the decrease in physical capacity and Medan. The research used descriptive correlation approach in order to find out the correlation of the decrease in physical capacity and mental status with apprehensiveness in heart failure patients. The samples were 85 heart failure patients. The result of the research showed that there was significant correlation between physical capacity and apprehensiveness in heart failure patients at p = 0,00 and weak correlation power toward positive direction r = 0,364, and there was significant correlation between mental status and patients' apprehensiveness at p : 0,047 with weak correlation power toward negative direction r = -0,216. It is recommended that the management of the hospitals provide training and counseling for nurse in the heart Policlinics in order that they will be able to identify patients' apprehensivess and to give support in medication. The next researchers should conduct researcher on the correlation of the decrease in physical capacity and mental status with apprehensiveness which can be developed in respondents in different places.
