dc.description.abstract | The study is analysis of the technique of translation and the stylistic features in the poetry. " Sebutir Zamrud di Deru Selat' written by Muhammad Haji Salleh (MHS) and translated by Lalita Sinha (LS) and Mohammad Salleh Yaapar (MSY) into "An Emerald Hill By The Sea". The study aims to identify the technique of translation and to describe the use of figurative language in the poetry collection of January version. The source of data in this study is the collection of the poetry. Whilst the data in this study are 174 data pairs in the form of words, phrases, and clauses in thirteen poems entitled "Sebutir Zamrud di Deru Selat" which was translated into "An Emerald Hill By The Sea ". Data collection methods used in this study consisted of a literature analysis in which to obtain translation techniques applied by the translator and figurative languages contained in it. The results showed that (1) there are 8 translation techniques used in the translation namely: literal translation of 92 (57.87%) data, calque of 48 (27.5%) data, amplification of 4 data (2,29%), reduction of 5 data (2 87%), transposition of 12 data (6.89%), borrowing of 3 data (1,72%), modulation of 8 data (4.59%), particularization of 2 data (1.14%). (2) The analysis showed that poetic language dominantly found in this poem is a figurative language of metaphor, personification, simile, allegory, metonymy. In terms of imaginary, it is concluded that there are ten data classified into visual imagery, 14 data classified into kinaesthetic imagery, 4 data classified into tactile imagery, 2 data classified into olfactory imagery, 2 data classified into Gustatory, and 1 data classified into auditory imagery. | en_US |
